Have they finally switched off the server?

I was bashing my head over my Virgin router until I realised I could setup two different named Networks, one on 5G and the other on 2.4.

My TV hates 2.4 and always used to buffer for ages to the point we couldn’t watch a movie.

My old Windows 7 is happy on the 2.4…

Now I can choose depending on device being used, the 5G for speed.

The TV loves this speed

Set the hub to enable both radio 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz

Name them whatever-2.4Ghz and whatever-5Ghz

Set the password the same for both

Then when you search for a wlan you will see both on a device that can use both or just the 2.4Ghz on older devices

But still the best option is buy a decent router and stick it in modem mode and then you will have the best wifi possible

I use 2 Asus routers setup as a Almesh system

Ok, so firstly you do not want to be connecting anything lower than Win 10 to the internet. Support for 7 ended ages ago. Whilst the official upgrade ended, you can still download the iso from the Microsoft update site and it will happily upgrade you.

Pop an ethernet cable into the router to download and upgrade, and make sure you’re on mains power. (Uninstall any antivirus first and do a clean reboot before you start the upgrade, you can reinstall after). Once up to Win 10 22H2, update wireless card drivers and it will likely all work anyway.

I’ll try this later :+1: :+1:

I’m surprised no one’s a suggested this, but as an easy option… Have you tried changing the SSID and password for the new wireless router to be the same as the old router that you had?
