As a side effect of surveying for google streetview I end up with 360 degree spherical video which I can inject metadata into then upload to YouTube and you end up with a VR video that you can control.
This is a nice little walk on a footpath in Derby.

On a PC or a smartphone do this : Click on the gear “settings” at the bottom right of the video, Click Quality and set to “2160s 4K”
On a phone viewed in the YouTube app it will show you the view as you move the phone around or you can move it manually. Best view is in a VR Headset
Viewing this 360° video in your Oculus Quest VR Headset :
From the main menu select Apps and pick the YouTube VR app (install if
you don’t have it), Select the 360° button, select the search box and search for @comedyhunter Derby Bass Recreation

No, I do it for free. Ive surveyed hundreds of miles of stuff on foot over the years, a total of 74.96 million views. Im a Level 8 Local guide, the only thing Ive had is a pair of google socks LOL
So what do they get out of it , bet it’s paid for your socks a million times over

It started by me doing 360 degree photos back in 2008 before google were even doing it, its just progressed to them accepting me as an approved photographer and editor.
I like helping people, If I find a path or something thats not been mapped then I do it.
Well they get free content of course.
