Waverley Abbey Meet-up | £30 per pilot | Sunday 29th September

Thanks @smudge202

All paperwork done and submitted for 8 pilots.

I am also aiming for 8am @ORB_FPV

I will be on crowd control. Only 8 named pilots and spectators* will in inside the fence (need to know spectators in advance).

[*] Spectators are any type of Grey Arrows Members whom let me know in advance.

Will set-up at the entrance to keep uninvolved people out. Entrance had not got any shade - so any umbrellas or gazebos or sun shades feel free to bring along.

Fingers crossed, I’ve been monitoring the forecast for the last couple of days - it’s been consistent that Sunday will be fine

Pilots attending Sunday - please can you have a look at email send by me last night.
Via email - just confirm ok - or not ok with request in email.

Unfortunately I saw details of the meet too late. I just live up the road in Grayshott, can I pop down and have a look and meet you all (I won’t bring my drone)?
Thanks
Brian

Will be great to see you.
Another spectator
We have three now and counting.
Plus eight pilots.

BONK - the famous FPV move, favourite from the illustrous Chris Harbottle FPV https://www.instagram.com/fpv_chrissyboy/

When I do them, they tend to be unwanted (ooooh that nice metal post - BONK!)

Heads up for anyone who is still there and heading home up the A3 northbound - avoid it at all costs! Major accident, I am just north of the Ripley exit and have been stationary for an hour :rage:

Find another way home I could easily see me being here in about another hours time

Can’t tell you how tempted I am to put my Neo up and fly down to check it out! Hmm, flying along the A3 northbound carriageway, pretty sure it said something about that in the Drone Code…

Great to see you all though, nice one Brendan @bmsleight for organising again

Thanks for organising the meet. Nice to meet you all; great crowd (well a group anyway!). The first time I’ve seen performance FPV’s flying and amazed at the skill of the guys flying them and the occasional crash but a couple of quick repairs and back in the sky again. I don’t think my reactions are quick enough anymore so I’ll stick to my 2s and Pro 4, it’s safer for me and the rest of you. All the best, Brian

Great day, despite a bit of wind! Big thanks to Brendan for organising.

I seem to be missing a GNB 2S 450mah LiHV, if anyone happens to have it by accident please let me know! I did have a good look around when we packed up, hopefully it’s not fallen out of my pocket and been left to die in the grass!!

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and the advances I made with the drone. Thank you all for the confidence boost; it’s a sight to behold the way you all can throw your drones around in the air—such skill! Thank you again, Brendan, for organising the fun and for lighting up the faces of the children who came to watch you all put on a flying display for them. You were all so kind.

Awesome day and thanks to everyone for the help / parts / advice - every day is definitely a school day.

This was my view on the way home for 2 hours (definitely should’ve left earlier but and I missed the meal with the in-laws):

@lbrou - yep, I have it :man_facepalming:
It was in my bat box for some reason but I didn’t think anything of it as I’ve got some of those at home for my betafpv drone.
I can’t remember where you’re based but I can bring it to a Knockholt meet at some point and either give it to you or to someone else that lives nearer you.
*I’ll put it in storage now anyway

No problem, glad to know where it is :+1:
I live near Southampton so probs a bit far from Knockholt but I’m sure we can work something out or we’ll cross paths at another meet some time.

@lbrou I did not mind you flying my 5" - but did you have to land it better than me on the first attempt ?
I have the full video 4G if you want - I put it on server for your download. Otherwise I will clear the disk space.

Excellent day.
Even got a follow-up from English Heritage ask us if it went ok.

@bmsleight  thanks I appreciate the test flight. Still blown away by the performance compared to my whoops :exploding_head: Yes I would like to see the full video if it’s not too much hassle to upload!
