Wedding video for a friends wedding

A shortish video I did last Saturday for a good friend of mine. It was quite windy ( as you can tell on some of the footage)
Criticism welcome ( but don’t go to town ) Choice of music ? Hmmm dunno. PS, go easy, I’m only just getting to grips with DaVinci Resolve.

I think you have done a really good job on it. I like the different type of music you have used and it goes with the video. The first couple of bits of music was so relaxing. Hope that your friends are really happy with it

Thank you johnb for your comment. This is the first time I’ve done something like this. The man is the DJ and general comedian in my local pub and his wife is one of the barmaids. Had a great time at the reception afterwards. Had to get the Bridal Chorus by Wagner in there as that was the music she walked down the aisle to. ( thought some might have found that perhaps a bit corny )
Shame about the cars on the road at the start ( asteroid shot, reversed ) :+1::+1:

Its a really good job for your first time, i wouldnt have know to be honest. Glad that you had a great time at the receptions. Congratulations to your friends. To be honest a lot of the time it wouldnt be a wedding without the bridal chorus at some point during the day haha. I really liked the asteroid shot. Yeah shame about the cars but cant be helped though suppose ita one if those things

Thats very impressive, well thought through for first attempt. Job well done  love it.

Great video and music ! Nicely done

Thanks guys. I know it’s not perfect by any means, and I need more practice at gimbal up n down movements. One thing I did notice whilst flying, was that if you start the drone up in cine mode, it actually starts up in normal mode. I had to switch it quickly between cine, normal and back to cine mode after I’d taken off ( wonder if this is a bug in the software ? )

It’s not a bug …. It’s always been like that, across all the DJI drones. It will always be in Normal mode, irrespective of what the position of the switch is. A quick flick to Normal and back will sort it.

Have a look at this video

He has some great tips on settings to smooth out the gimbal movements

You’ve captured some great footage there, Jocky, especially for a first punt. The one thing I would suggest for future projects is to bin any harsh zooms in and out during post, as they quickly drag the video into the ‘distinctly amateur’ zone. Edit in any smooth ones, then use ‘ease in’, ‘ease out’ for moving between clips in DaVinci. Use a simple fade transition between relevant clips just to smooth off the ‘rough edges’.

Actually, there is one other point. You might want to consider colour grading your video…DaVinci is particularly good at that, as that’s where it kinda came from. It’s amazing what a golden tint can do to add atmosphere to your masterpiece.

Enjoy!
