Looking good @Tidepool !!!

I’m currently sat at work… In your twin sails image, top left, just behind the red building.

I’m waving

Over in Sterte? I can’t see you
As I’m WFH, I’d have to go fairly high to see you from Southbourne, and the visibility’s a bit prro today.
Hope it stays dry for you to fly today, how’s the gimbal issue going?
I have a friend in Parkstone with a Mini I can ask if you need. Are you Apple or Android?

Out of interest:
I’m Android on the phone front, and my S7 was great for starters, so bought a used Samsung Tab S2 to get the maximum screen size on a tablet that fits the holder on the controller.
Disaster… It would only connect 20% of the time.

Passed it on to a relative and bought an Apple iPad Mini, which wasn’t cheap and I don’t really like the Apple ecosystem.
That said, it has worked flawlessly and is really good for screen real estate.

Ha ha ha, oh i dunno, reckon I’m about 12km west of you so maybe on a good day with a bit of height !!! We had it torrential first thing, most unexpected! Think the red building is Citroen at Sterte, I’m between there and B&Q.

Haven’t been able to test the gimbal more yet but a couple of other users mentioned they’ve had the same issue so possibly software related but don’t know for sure, it might still be me! Was going to do a bit of testing and then throw it up and get a video of the whole road out doing their clapping and banging last night- would’ve made a great shot but obviously would’ve been highly illegal and frowned upon so I didn’t.

I run it through my google pixel 2, I know what you mean about the tablet. I had an old Samsung Tab S 10.5 at home I was going to try but it wouldn’t even see the DJI app in the play store so guess it’s a bit old. Looked at trading it in and maybe getting an ipad mini 2 but heard good and bad things about them so will stick with the phone for the time being. Like other things though, Apple seems to work better than android :frowning: Think I’ve got a spare iphone 6 knocking around the office so might test that and see how it compares.

I went on Google Maps and using the 3D mode had a look round the area. Yes, the red building is the Peugeot/Citroen garage.

I’ve been told a number of times that Apple works better with the DJI app, but the S7 has been solid.

I initially was looking for an Apple refurb iPad Mini 4, as a friend picked up a 32GB last year for £220.
There were none for months on the Apple site, and a lot on ebay looked dodgy or well used.

Late last year iPad Mini 5 /2019 refurbs started coming out, but only £40 less than John Lewis new. I had £20 on JL vouchers, so went with a new iPad Mini 5.
I use is for reading and youtube when away from the PCs, so it’s good in that respect; identical screen size and shape as the Tab S2.

I think an iPad Mini 2 is too old and slow, it needs to be a 4.

Good idea with the iphone 6; my daughter had a 6 Plus, but the touch setup went. That would have been a good affordable option and able to be dedicated to flying.

I’ll dig out some more pics later, I have a load taken of the water meadows / flood plain either side of Christchurch bypass wehn they were fully submerged.

I recently got a lenovo android 8inch tablet to use with my Mavic 2, only tried it a little bit due all this virus stuff but seems to work well with no issues. Did have an ipad mini 1 before but you can’t even install dji go 4 on there cause it’s so old. Probably would have the same issue on the mini 2I have also heard the same that Apple devices tend to work better with DJI than android but I think it depends more on which specific device.
