ORANGE…sricks out a mile…

It came from puffin plastics.

It fitted OK. If the film lifts a hot air dryer works well.

A post was merged into an existing topic: My Mini 2 with two Strobon Crees weighs…?

Try dayglo orange or lime green yellow they should stand out.ake sure you cover the four legs as for the strobe use red or grreen light

Thanks al for your inputs… and @DeanoG60 links to the other thread

I think after all the comments I don’t think there is one solution…

So my plan… is a skin with Hi Vis orange … closer to Red that I wanted but some brightness of Yellow.

The other thing I thought about was the positioning of my Strobon Cree… which was vertical down (great view if you are under the drone perhaps?)…
So I have ordered another one (Red this time) and aim to fit them to a device I have designed and printed. This will hold them both at the same time but will be aimed 45 degrees down from the base of the Mini 2 … these will face white one forward and Red one to the rear.

I should get it by Wednesday and can try the LEDs at least

I used the discount from our forum… (thanks GADC and Flytron) Saved nearly the postage… it all helps :slightly_smiling_face:

I am amused to find this thread. Whilst out with hubby a flock of birds went past, and as spotter I lost it twice, well three times if you count the flock of birds, cos it just blends in. So I said to hubby I was going to bling it up and put shiny tape or diamonte’s on it to glint. He wasn’t happy with my suggestion. I think he will be happy to find some sensible solutions. I still think it would work

PS to help my daughter orient herself on the tello, I put some reflective red tape on the back/battery. That work really well in the sun. Easy to see cos it was like bicycle reflective stuff.

@Stillight he probably won’t be: My Mini 2 with two Strobon Crees weighs...? - #99

Who do you think might be checking ?

Good point regardless

My aim was to design something as simple as possible.
The printed base is 2g
The Strobon’s are about 5g the pair.
My mini 2 is 239g with battery

I bought some reflective tape and we just put on what I can get away with to be 249 total

People are worrying too much about going a gramme or two over the 250. Its not like the old bill are going to be walking around with a set of scales and checking weights of Mini 2’s

And if it crashes its gonna lose bits to bring the weight down.

How long before the warranty police start bleating on about aftermarket accessories invalidating Care Refresh

Well they won’t support themselves

I’m guessing you didn’t read that thread I linked to

If I want clear visibility in all directions I use 2 on the rear legs, one on the bottom and one on the top

That bottom photo, I hear the weights police :weight_lifting_man: :police_car: fuming their responses as we speak.

Put a skin on that and finish the job off properly man.

Well it works…

and I have 1 Gram to spare for some reflective tape that I am due delivery of.

Just an hour ago in bright but cloudy sky - I flew it past the distance I could previously see the orientation and yet further than I had before cos it could hardly see it or rather, lose it. Yet now I can still clearly see the rear facing Red LED… I turned it on its spot until I could see the full white LED brightness and whilst not perfectly facing me I could at least see what was front or back.

Lesson 1. As the adapter is easily removed I have now discovered it’s best to put the lights on both Strobon’s first and then attach the adapter… I leave the two Strobons on the adapter now… No need to remove them and you can still charge them in situ - Boy are these things bright! :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Didn’t seem to affect the video recording either…

Does it effect your landing ?

Not wishing to create work for you Alan mate but as you went to the effort of designing and printing a mount then v2 of the mount should clip in to those vent slots rather than use velcro

And v3 of the mount can then see the strobes clipped in to the mount

Anyway Alan @Grazuncle after three days and 40+ replies are we to assume you’ll not going to use a skin at all now?
