Personally, I would greatfuly accept his offer to visit when you are free. Take copies of all the relevant legislation and have a face to face chat. Maybe even take a tablet/laptop so you can show him. It does at least look like hes not completely anti drone
The place could be misconstrued for a scrap yard!
Great video @paulburgh

“Bloody hell please take this down immediately as you don’t have our permission to do so & we don’t want tresspass on our sight like this as it is unlawful.
Sorry to be so blunt but this is not on.
Iain.”
Iain, we dont need your permission - we need the CAA. Sight or Site (says the dsylexic) ?
Iain - Please take down the website - Find Us | Waverley Route Heritage Association so no trespass can occur following these instructions.
There’s some ADHD going on here (pretty common with anyone who is into trains tbh) so I would try not to wind him up too much.
FWIW I do think you’re flying way too low and way too close to the locomotives regardless of legality in some of the footage.
You wouldn’t fly that close to anyones home, and I’d argue if you want close up shots take him up on his offer, and get way better pictures and video and then do some drone footage for the more grandular wide location scene.
thanks for your comment about being to close, i do agree if it was someone’s house yeah, i think i would be a “peeping tom”. But only part of video is about 25 seconds into video, but yet with zoom and also if drone did fall out the sky onto embankment, so would not have damaged train. As for the others if the drone did fall onto it and did damage the train, i think there would be something wrong with train if 250g would damage it’s roof. checking my records i think the lowest i was 7meter or 22feet, not sure what part of flight that was but for entire flight that was the lowest
Touché ![]()
I accepted whitrope’s offer meeting them and being shown around and a coffee, but then there response was now “Once you follow our request & take it down we’d like nothing better than to assist you in creating some quality content for your channel & our fb page.”
Payday ![]()
I think I’d still go at my leisure with a view to improving what you already have. If the price is to make the video private in the interim its no biggy. If it goes south you could always make it public again and you’d have had a free coffee. ![]()

In other words they want free license to use anything you shoot in their promotional stuff. I’m now inclined to tell them to fuck off and shoot whatever I like ,
Sod 'em !
