Wide angle lens fitted ( NOT !)

At the end of yesterday flight around Avenham Park, I noticed that the Mini 3 Pro said, on my mobile’s screen, that I had a wide angle lens in use.

I don’t own one. I have a variable ND filter on, that’s all.

Had I inadvertently activated something in the settings? Or was the thing having a brainfart?

Paul.

I think it senses the weight is changed and presumes who have added their wide lens

It’s maybe a setting for pano photos, but I was in video mode Chris. I’d have thought weight would be no different between lens/filters?

Could it be magnetic?

Like Chris says it senses the extra weight on the gimbal

It will also stop certain modes like Pano

So why I wonder, did it suddenly do this after 112 flights of over 11 hours and near 30km?

One moment I was filming an overhead/top down shot, landed, and then took off again from a different position nearby and it then said WA, and not only that the footage was soft as well for the next 2 or 3 minutes, before I packed up for home.

Quite odd. :man_shrugging:

Seems back to normal today when I checked…

Weak gimbal motor, it’s probably damaging it

Cripes I hope not!

Is it an official DJI one ?

Yes, but i won the drone in a competition from MPB so it wasnt a new one (as far as I know) so when i asked DJI they wouldn’t answer when i asked about putting Refresh on it.

Or do you mean the filter - cos that’s a K&F Concept one…

Best to stick with DJI ones or a better make tbh.

Error (corrected) it’s K&F

Paul.

I actually have the wide angle and anamorphic from freewell for it along with NDs to fit on the front . That does bring up the message wide angle fitted as has some metal contacts I think to tell it

100% no contacts it’s sensing the load on the stepper motor

The screen message appeared between two TOAL points 50 yards apart, on opposite side of the small Japanese gardens. I landed on the path at the top of the hill, powered down both the drone and controller, then I walked down the slope to the gate into the gardens. Once there, I powered up both and the message was there…

Baffled I am… lol…

I will monitor things, thanks guys for all your input.

Paul.

This is what the notification said, except all that happened was that I had landed a short distance away on the last TOAL before this info. In all this time the ND filter was on (from initial flight to last flight).

The stepper motor is getting weak and requiring more power to move

So the control board thinks the wide lens is attached

The wide lens weigh is 3g

So the 3 options are:

Leave filter on until its goosed

Remove filter and get longer life

Send for exlensive repair cos DJI wouldnt give me Care Refresh cos it wasnt bought… just in time for the summer hols

They gave it me on a secondhand Avata that was 130 days old :man_shrugging:

In fact it’s on it’s way back for repair

On my air 2 it’s an option. It’s in the same place as changing the resolution. One of the| options is a wide view. I’m not sure if the mini 3 is the same or not.:+1:
