Hello, OK i have not taken my drone out since i had a seagull attack my Mini 3 Pro, The first time it hit the drone but it stayed up right, 2nd time it completely took the drone out and crashed i had cover and got it replaced.
So i been scared to fly since i bought my Mini 4, But i read in a comment on a youtube video that if you use a red skin it scares the birds away as they see red as a predator. How true is this?
I would love to get back flying but i dont seem to have any luck.
Many thanks
I’ve performed my own skin job on my mini 3 using reflective red and a hint of white etc and so far I’ve not had an issue.
Thats a good idea, where you get that from Amazon?
I was told to use worms, unfortunately a flock of seagulls swooped in a took it. Never saw the drone again.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to avoid creating another discussion as there seem to be lots already about wraps and colours. After reading these I’m undecided whether to go down the full wrap route. I’ve only got 1g to spare with Mini 4 Pro so this seems like a simpler lighter weight option.
Just wondering whether the stickers peel off after a while or leave a sticky residue?
It did on my former Mini 3 when I removed the stickers for it to be sold.
Did it leave a sticky residue?
Yes, my above had ’ sticky residue ’ in bold.
Sorry, missed the bold
Thanks for replying

The wrapgrade skins dont leave anything when you peel them off. Not really used others to compare.
Colours or not, Ive noticed birds take a lot more interest in the smaller drones such as the minis than a bigger drone such as an Air3.

Hey UK Dronies,
Getting ready to fly drone in the UK in early May for the first time. Back in Australia we can have an issue with bird strike from Crows and Magpies. To mitigate, but not eliminate this we use reflective red adhesive tape of our drones. Will this be an issue for me and will such a measure be more effective than just flying upward to outfly the birds. I do not usually encounter seagulls in the outback.

I did try this method as I’m a coastal flyer. It did at first keep some flying species at bay, however there where others who didn’t take a blind bit of notice and it was no deterrent whatsoever.
The black headed gulls over here I’ve never had an issue with. In fact I’ve flown very close by and find them very placid. Herring Gulls are the annoying lot!
McDonalds chip sleeves are red and it doesn’t deter the gull, just makes them easier to spot whilst flying.
