Wreck of the Reginald, Churchill Barrier 3, Orkney / Scapa Flow Blockship

Another historic site for today’s Orkney video, the wreck of the Reginald, a Second World War blockship, used to block one of the passages into Scapa Flow to prevent Uboat ingress…

Not quite so calm on the water as the previous blockship video, but more of the ship above the waterline, so still a great subject…

@AlbionDrones Nice one Suzanne, moves as smooth as butter and the atmospheric music goes perfectly. :ok_hand:

Thanks DOc. It was an interesting place to fly, and I wanted to fly it manually to get some more organic moves, such as the final orbit where it comes in closer and round. Getting better with practice now

Thanks, appreciated

Great video ! thank you for showing

Thank you, and thanks for commenting

Great music choice and your execution on the final push in, Orbit shot was flawless. Difficult shot to pull off, manually.

Thank you, it was a good day of flying, just in the zone and at one with the drone, the zen of drone photography, it seemed to do exactly what I thought, which was awesome… Now to reach that standard every time I fly

Youre really developing the muscle memory! Ive subscribed to SkyHighFilms, he`s a master at it!

Thankks, I will check his channel out… Always good to see inspirational people that give you ideas of what to try next…

Cracking video and definitely nailing it flying manual nice smooth panning …

I have only seen these boats from much higher when fly to and from the oil rig i ued to work on.

Thanks, getting there with the manual flying, but still not 100% consistent on all flights, I suppose I need even more flying hours under my belt…

Im the same,
Definitely need to get out flying mine alot more than i have.

Think it comes down to more air time the more confidence you get in flying, still get nervous when i have flown over water lol

Yeah, when we go on holiday and I get to fly most days then I get better as the week goes on, but at the beginning of the holiday I am still very jumpy, and tbh the Orkney trip was fraught with birds, so I remained nervous throughout…

Looked pretty good to me. :ok_hand: Don’t know about you but I must admit, I haven’t quite found the sweet spot for my RC controller settings yet. My mini 2 with the N1 was dialled in but not so my mini 3 Pro and RC. 90% of the time I use Normal mode as my Cine mode is set very slow. Must get round to setting it up properly! Anyway keep up the good work loving it. :+1:

Thanks… I have limited the gimball and turn to 15 degrees and feathered the settings to the max on Cine, so it allows for really smooth movements, which is what I am after for that epic cinematic look

@AlbionDrones I tried that Suzanne in Cine but TBH it was a bit too slow for my style of vids and I ended up speeding up the video most of the time :joy:. That said it works great for you :hugs: I’m still working on a happy medium though. I think the RC is a tad harder to tune in but I will figure it out!

As always, it is horses for courses, you have to find that happy medium that suits you  Keep on refining it, you will get there…

Wow, love it. We were there a few weeks ago on a day trip. Shame I could not really use my drone.
