Despite Benn - the USA west coast flights would have still enabled Concorde to make a success, but probably not one that would have easily ridden out the fuel price hike of the 70s … if at all.

Yeah - Boeings ditched swing-wing replacement designed to go faster than any existing materials could allow it to actually fly.

Word was that Boeing spent more money on the SST program and scrapped it than it cost the UK and France to get Concorde into service :man_facepalming:

And then there was Concodski …

Tupolev 144 which crashed at the Paris air show you mean ???
Ended up as the Tupolev 164 flying mail runs across Siberia and never went into passenger service.

It was at Fanborough Air Show once, to I seem to recall.

I feel honoured to have seen this in action for the last time @RIAT, here’s a short clip, not mine.

Yes - that “formation” happened a few times that year around the country.

I recall Red-10 took some amazing pics of it between displays.

It’s final display at Bournemouth Air Show it created one amazingly loud and long “Vulcan Howl”. So wish I’d been videoing that.

It’s a beast :star:

For no other reason than to name drop( name withheld), my old neighbour was Squadron Leader for the Vulcans and trained the pilots. They flew over our houses near Brize and if were the enemy I’d be terrified.
Fab pics fab planes.

I bet the DJI drone has more tech in than the Vulcan did lol
