Hope it’s okay that I’m here.
I’m an American who will be staying near Cawthorne, Yorkshire, for 5 weeks and intend to fly my drone (Mavic 3 Pro) quite a bit during the visit. I was told this is a great forum for those flying in the UK.
Thx,
Jon

Welcome Jon! I don’t live in the north, so there will be those much better qualified than me to give you pointers, but good luck and hope you have a memorable stay.
Thanks for the warm welcomes.
I’ve arrived in Cawthorne. Looks like a beautiful day today, so I may get the drone out later.
Welcome home!
I just signed up for the Silver level of membership.
Looks like Gold would be wasted on me, as the insurance is limited to UK residents.
I’ll be exploring flying spots right away.
Don’t want to rain on your parade more than British weather will do it for you (!) but are you worried at all about getting it back into the US when you return ? As I understand it customs are just not letting them in at the moment… don’t know if that also applies to UAVs that started there in the first place…
Hadn’t crossed my mind. I really don’t think that’s an issue.
Let’s hope it’s not !
I’m up for more ideas on where I should/could fly and get some nice images.
We’re taking the dog we’re sitting to Peak District today. No idea where within PD we’re going, but it should be fun.
I have plenty of time during the weekday afternoons and evenings to play with the drone without my better half and the dog, as she needs to work at those times. And, she’s still asleep at sunrise, so I can get out then, too.
