7inch Source one V3 Build/Complete

Here is the 7inch quad I bought a few weeks back second hand without Radio, or Video system…

I will document whats in it, and what’s going to go in it. Above photo is how it came, and the parts it came with:

Will be adding:

  • Caadx Vista with Nebula Pro
  • Radiomaster EP1
  • A lovely loud buzzer
  • Lot’s of beautiful orange TPU
  • GPS optional… maybe…

Will probably need to upgrade etc. Interestingly had a closer look at the FC the other day and the motor outputs from FC → ESC were on 1, 3 5 and 6 outputs… (there are 10 PWN motor/servo outputs on the FC, as this FC I believe is used a lot in wings/planes). Anyone have any guesses as to why (wiring diagram states 1 - 4 for multirotor). Asked the guy I bought from had he said had no idea, but probably best to leave it. Will check whether any resource mapping has been done before flashing (if I need to). Is there any way to get the default config from BF without flashing (I assume the “defaults” that are applied), so I could check before flashing…

Finally, I did fly this quad back in early summer as a “tester of 7 inch”, and asked after flying how I liked 7 inch… My reply “Sod that, I’m buying DJI…” was also the first DJI FPV I flew… heh!

Anyways, back to the 3d printer, and time to get this thing configured

May have answered by own questions, but assuming the following are the defaults for the unified target (manual says to use the MATEKF722HD target)

And this shows the resource mapping at the start, so could check that out if they differ from current config. Doubt need to resolder back to 1-4, but strange it’s wired that way!

A quad without a frame is a strange site indeed

There’s the frame cleaned up. All but the GPS soldered… Man I hate pigtails to ESCs. Scares the life out of me. Fingers crossed still works…

Had a nightmare with the “Early Learning Radio System” last night, which delayed progress. The radiomaster EP1 RX I had lying around (new) failed first flash over WiFi, second appeared to work (over the web interface). Solid green light … in the end had to clear house to find my FTDI and solder the boot pad… All seems ok now but boy first big issue ever had with ELRS

And she’s built and ready to try a little hover test… Indoors as is the tradition. Lounge is a tip (still haven’t unpacked, so this small kitchen will have to do!)

Youre a brave man hovering that beast indoors especially on a maiden :scream: lol Good to see its working and you haven’t removed any excess fingers from your hands

I only need my thumbs and index fingers for flying…

Its quite sensible really. I tested my 7" in my garden. 1 second later, it was over the roof :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Im not sure that a 7" pinballing around around your kitchen would be much better than over your roof
