Agree

Spec of youtube app on TV.
And spec of youtube on my s10 phone

Further back in this thread you can see the youtube spec while on my pc showing it is 8k@60fps

This is a link to a 2.7k@60fps slowed by 50% and is silky smooth https://youtu.be/CUTjgo3t8ok

I now I will probably get trashed for saying this, but what’s the point of 8K yes some will say, well if you shoot at 8K, you can crop and zoom in, without losing quality… Thing is the human eye simply can;t resolve such a resolution, when viewing it at a normal distance and who sits 10-20cm away from a TV screen saying, wow, look at that detail. Most important thing with a camera is being able to capture the entire visible spectrum at all levels of light that the human eye can… Constantly increasing the resolution every few years, won’t achieve that, in fact the higher the resolution goes, the harder everything else has to work to capture it and display it. Sure having a large screen TV in your home is great, but the larger it gets, the further away you have to sit and at the end of the day, it might as well be a 4K screen or even 2K, positioned a bit closer, but cramming more pixels into the same size screen, and viewing it from say 2-3 metres or worse at arms length on a phone screen, is at least to my mind, meaningless… Until you have a sensor, that cam capture al visible colours in he spectrum and from the darkest of blacks to the brightest of whites, it just makes no sense, it’s marketing it’s big companies, simply creating stuff and convincing you that you need it, in order to make money… Yes you wouldn’t want to go back to 625 line TV from a 4K screen, but I think once people start to understand that just chasing the next hike in resolution is a waste of their time and money, we should start seeing companies, spend more time, creating cameras, and displays, that can display every single colour and at every single light level and cameras that can capture the same. resolution is going to take a back seat.

and just remember, not all 2, 4, 5, 6, 8K and beyond displays or sensors are created equal, in fact a lot of fudging goes on in the hardware, to create the illusion of a higher resolution.

Hey if you are out there shooting a movie for the BIG SCREEN, hey 8K might just be for you, it’s probably the only time you need that resolution, so that it can be shown on a massive screen , to hundreds if not thousands of people… but I’m pretty sure if you were doing that, you would not be here asking about posting videos of youtube or watching them on an 8K TV screen at home.

that was a bit of a long winded post, hope you got it all off your chest.
nothing wrong in buying something and taking it to its limits, have you viewed a 8k video? if its not your cup of tea, dont read on as you wont be interested!!! the thing i found out is if you make your own 8k the only way you can watch it is on youtube and only if the youtube app is up to date or on a high end pc and monitor. in many cased when watching a movie on a 8k tv its most likely be upscale to 8k!!!. but there is nothing wrong in making a 8k drone video, its that there is a lot more to it than on a 4k ie there is no codec for many tv’s that support 8k… but lets get back in the real world many said the same about going from 1080p to 4k but the reason i got my tv was because of the uhd ie oled or qled which is different quality all together, if i was to buy the tv again i would go for a 4k oled but you live and learn and people can make there own minds up this post may help, so getting back to drones we make our own video in what ever quality we choose and there is nothing wrong with trying new things out be it in 8k 4k or 2.7k and at what ever fps. drones are not cheap and theres nothing wrong in viewing your own work on tv at its best… the truth about 8k is its best for tv’s bigger than 65" reason being bigger screen to keep the quality higher resolution ie 8k more dots but smaller.my tv is 65" dont need to sit at 20cm to see it at its best trust me, the problem it tv manufacture making tv’s but not releasing codec’s so you can make and view your own, and you wont find that out until you buy a tv and try to view your own videos, youtube have made there app future proof as you can see by the file attached tv manufactures haven’t. and i will go back to the original post i was’nt being smart or smug with ref the the post. some members have been very helpful. as it doesnt float your boat thats fine, i dont have a problem with that

And I only have 1080p eyes, all wasted on me with a 49" TV but somehow the almost infinite sharpness at even 4K is evident on my MAC too.

I can remember back in the days of B&w
Tv’s when colour tvs came out how it was bad on your eyes ect and that wasn’t even 720 back then and was on crt’s even the colour tv’s where crt’s.

Or not on your Samsung maybe ;o)

Is there no way to just play it via a media player, networked up to the TV, Plex springs to mind ?

Oh I can play it just not at 8k as samsung hasn’t won’t upgrade
youtube app which only plays 4k videos
On a 8k TV.youtube and samsung need to sort it out by upgrading the app.
funny enough it will play HDR videos no problem.bit embarrassing for
samsung

Youtube app is always the latest version
On your computer or your mobile phone as they are updated regularly. Youtube
App on TV are restricted updates
By the tv manufacturers . Sadly
samsung are poor at updating.

You may recall there was the same issues when 4K was first introduced, the likes of an NVIDIA shield was the answer, what a tool they are, look out for offers next week around prime day.

You don’t need the pro version unless you are a steam gamer and want to play on your TV, but they kick all the smart apps your TV may have into a cocked hat.

found this reply to same problem.
No solutions yet because current 8K TV’s processor is incapable to decode YouTube 8K streaming videos.

Just don’t get the fixation with YouTube, what happens if you put your edited video on a USB and stick it in the TV ?

There isn’t a fixation with youtube there
Isn’t video codec for 8k
