Fantastic photos @gasbag43
Congrats on your new Misty Moments badge
Glorious shots! Well captured.
Stunning did you do much in post or just use settings to get the effects?
Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated.
Not a huge amount in post - mainly just adjusted clarity and contrast, but did need to do add linear graduated filtering to the sky to balance the light across the images.
That pano is just amazing!
Lovely image! When and where was this? What drone did you use? I love the light burst in the sun? Was that done in post? I ask because generally, unless you have aperture control and can shoot at minimum aperture, light bursts are hard to achieve.
Hi - thanks for the feedback! 3 weeks ago in the Vale of Pewsey (close to Marlborough in Wiltshire).
Shots taken with a Mini 4 Pro
The light bursts did have a little digital assistance in post production as the aperture was running at f1.7
I did wonder about the light burst but it is very clean and looks perfect. I see in your bio you have a Mavic 3 Classic, as well. How does that perform in comparison? I use a Mini 4 Pro myself. Iāve flown around VOP, as itās only 20 mins drive for me. Great area for crop circles during the summer.
You live in a lovely part of the world then - iām about 45 mins away for VOP, but spend a lot of time around there, Martinsell, and Avebury with my stills camera but increasingly with drone in tow as well.
Ive got a couple of videos i made last summer flying around crop circles in Wiltshire and just over the Dorset border but not published them yet - just need to pull my finger out and set up my YouTube page to get them out there.
You can see some still images on my Flickr page (user name - Andy J Newman) and thereās one on my website too (andrewnewmanphotography.co.uk). As youāre from the area, youāll recognise a few of the locations in the ālandscapeā tab of the websiteā¦
Image quality wise, the Mavic tops the Mini Pro for out and out like for like quality, but a) i shoot with auto bracketed images with the Mini Pro so in HDR the differences are less noticeable, particularly web-quality displays, and b) the quality issue for me is less important than the flexibility i have as to where i can legally fly it (the old adage being the best camera in the world is the one you have with you when you need it!)
A couple of the best photos Iāve seen. Congrats.
Thank you - i really appreciate the feedback
Martinsell is about 15-20 minutes from me, coming from the other direction from you, and one of my regular walks with my ābirdingā lens, with a smaller zoom for the landscapes - I sometimes use my film cameras at Avebury.
Iāve just had a look at the photos on your website and I think they are really excellent, some outstanding, and quite a broad folio as well. The post production is also skilfully edited without detracting from the āphotographā. They certainly are something to be proud of - as good as any āprofessionalā site I have seen.
Please let us know when you post your crop circle videos on YT - I will certainly watch. I presume you know the Crop Circle Exhibition at Honey St.? I sometimes call in at the cafe when Iām out for a cycle ride; itās quite small but nonetheless interesting.
Thanks so much Phil for taking the time to look over my website and i genuinely appreciate the feedback
I do indeed know the Crop Circle Exhibition at Honey Street and used their ālatest crop circlesā website to track down the new arrivals as part of an exercise to teach myself how to fly my first drone which i got last May.
Ahead of me going ahead with the YT set-up, ive posted a separate topic this morning under the āphotos by droneā category of some of the stills shots i took of the 5 crop circles i visited.
Amazing shots!
It can be, although Iām really a mountains person. Itās a bit flat in these parts!! Itās hilly enough for bike hill climbing! Very nicely presented website, clean and straightforward. A long time ago I had planned to create a website but the cost was prohibitive. Most of my commercial stuff was online anyway with a stock library, so left it. Now its just for fun, so Flickr for some of my recent adventures and other SM is enough
Ta for the website feedback - i won a Scott Kelby photography competition a few years back and one of the prizes was a professionally designed website. I probably wouldnāt have got it done off my own back. I like the format though with the general portfolio summary as the first "home " page and with the more specialised galleries to go into if one is interested in a particular genre.
Iāve only recently updated the images on the website but i upload onto Flickr 4-5 shots a week so thats my main outlet with a bit of 500px thrown in
If youāre happy to share your Flickr details im sure weāll bump into each other on there
This might be of interest: Member Flickr Accounts
Thanks - yes, iād seen that and gone back a few years to try and identify still active accounts. Not sure what the process is for putting forward ideas, but would it be possible to consider adding another field to the member profile pages to capture flickr accounts (like for websites, instagram, facebook etc)?
I get it would be a hassle to set up and administer a Grey Arrows group on Flickr, but if profiles were more easily available, that might promote a self-supporting community?
Thanks again for reaching out
