A2 CofC courses

Agreed - validity of the system would certainly benefit from a central database. Guess it would be the drone pilots that would be expected to cover the costs of maintaining such a database though. Think I’ll stick with the old adage “innocent until proven guilty” and leave the burden of proof to the local constabulary.

@Jhdee Don’t think “innocent until proven guilty” works like that John. I’m afraid the onus would be on you to prove you had one, not on the police to prove that you didn’t. In the “olden days” before we had centralised databases for insurance, MOT and insurance, it was up to the motorist to prove that they had the relevant details. Without databases, it was impossible for the police to check every single insurance company, MOT station etc. to prove that you didn’t have one. Same now for our drone registration. The sooner we have a database, the easier it will be to weed out the legit flyer against a forged OD number.

Don’t disagree with you - but if I have an A2CofC certificate (which I do) it would be up to the police to prove it was fake - I’ve produced the document - as in the “olden days” :man_shrugging:

I’ve got a proper, printed card, just like my Driving Licence, complete with hologram!

I assumed all the training providers did the same :man_shrugging:

Hologram or QR Code ???

If QR Code - I have exactly the same but on a paper certificate :+1:

The card surface has a hologram on it, which doesn’t show in the photo

In that case, the RAEs do not issue the same proof of certification.

Did my A2CofC with UAVHub and received an emailed cert within an hour of passing the exam.

Who did you do your a2 cofc with when others have seem to receive cert not card

He already told you here

Discunted suuport

Run by Barry Humphreys

I’m always suspicious when I spot a spelling mistake especially coming from me who’s linguistically challenged :joy::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I was only joking as I know there’s a Barry Humphreys MBE who’s a ex soldier Currently employed as an Apache Simulator Instructor wow :+1:

Like the fact it’s £40 + vat and discunted sorry discount to veterans :metal::metal::metal::metal::metal:

However this is unofficial and not produced by the CAA - so a bit misleading IMHO

Less open to abuse than an emailed, printed document though, IMHO.

I disagree. I don’t currently have an A2 CofC. But I can go to that link posted above and get a little official looking plastic card that says I do for £7.99. I can’t find a paper A2 CofC certificate with my name on it so easily.

Exactly, and ironically the only ones who would think to question are other drone pilots, who are wondering why they only got a printed certificate

Lets be (dis)honest here, anyone with a card printer can make one.

Put all your docs in a photo album on your flying phone/tablet.

Absolutely anything can be forged these days. I have the qualification, and I have the “proof”. If anyone wants to create their qualification, either using Photoshop, or a Card Printer, then that’s up to them - we’re not the Drone Police.

Not so much forged.

A card with a photo and CAA registered pilot should keep the nosey happy.

Double it up with hi-viz and a clipboard, as well as a 30 page risk assessment and the jobs a good one

could they not go around breaking drone laws and you would get the blame for it
