Altitude Angel now includes SSSI’s

“You’ll need permission and a license when using drones above Natural England’s land to avoid disturbing wildlife”

Does having permission and a license (for fuck knows what) make the drone quieter so you don’t disturb wildlife?

Remind him that Drone Scene had SSSI layers first

And if you thought they were good when we added them John, you’ll be even more impressed with the next version of Drone Scene and the even bigger improvements we’re making to SSSI - which (I think) got signed off today

I’m seriously doubting the authenticity of these SSSI sites on that map, particularly around my locality.

I’ll continue to fly in those areas.

SSSI = Some Silly Sod’s Idea.

It claims the area around Hythe Ferry Pier is an SSSI?!?! Yeah ok!

It’s full of annoying seagulls being fed chips by annoying tourists!!

Seriously Sated Seagull Infestation. :+1:

I’m not familiar with the area @uav_hampshire can you point me in the direction of the ferry pier?

Wrong Hythe - the one in Southampton Water.

D’oh :man_facepalming:t2:

You’re assuming I got a higher grade than an X for my geography exam

Apparently, it is :person_shrugging:t2:

Drone Scene agrees with Altitude Angel:

As per the label … “Hythe to Calshot” … 8.5km …

I totally agree with from Calshot to Shore Road at Hythe as an SSSI. But I still don’t buy the area at Prospect Place Park and the Pier as an SSSI.

Interesting livestream tonight. Very educational. What you need to do is look up the citation for the SSSI where you want to fly, Reason, not all SSSI’s are the same. For instance, one might be such an area because of nesting/ breeding birds ( and there are laws concerning this you might inadvertently break) It could be because of rare plants and insects, your drone is hardly likely to interfere with those. Or could be because of certain rock formations, etc again your hardly likely to crash a £1000+ drone into these on purpose.

I, and no doubt everyone else here, thanks you for the one-liner summary of what was no doubt a very long watch
