… so you could wait 'til the 13th and grab 11 more days.

BUT … you might forget and have to pay £25.

Hello,
I saw your recent insurance offer.

My immediate questions (similar to other members ) were:

  1. Will you become the 5th CAA authorised model flying association?
 HOORAY - I see that is your intention

  2. Will you be promoting (lobbying) for improved members’ rights?
    HOORAY
I see you are (starting with reducing minimum distance to uninvoled persons to 10m)

  3. Does your insurance cover flying under BOTH

    • Authorisation 16
    • Open Category (recreational only)?

I am currently a member of FPVUK for insurance.
If your insurance policy has any differentiators compared to FPVUK then please share that detail.

Thank you and best wishes for all the membership enhancements underway.

If you are using a valid A16 from another flying association of which you are a member then yes, our recreational insurance will cover your flight. Please remember that Grey Arrows has not yet received it’s authorisation.

Please see our FAQ for more details of what’s covered: https://dronescene.co.uk/drone-public-liability-insurance

FPVUK already do a comparison chart on their website - it is likely a tad biased but the big ticket items are contrasted.

So was I, but with the current cost of living I’m trying to consolidate my subscriptions.

And paying for a GADC membership so that I can use the awesome full features of dronescene and paying for FPVUK as well, worked out more expensive so I moved over to GADC for my insurance and saved a few quid. It just made sense to me :+1:t2: :slightly_smiling_face: Plus the community here is just awesome.

I can live without A16 it was just a nice to have not a must have and I’m more than capable of renewing my own OP ID and Flyer ID but by the sounds of things GADC may even obtain those features in the near future anyways so win win. :slightly_smiling_face:

As @OzoneVibe says above.
I have A2 CofC but have never used the Article 16 but would find it beneficial if GADC got the ability to provide it, now that i’ve cancelled my FPVUK renewal.

Probably mentioned elsewhere, but it would be good to be able to record expiry dates of various qualifications as this group grows.

Also if badges are produced, showing extra bits on them would be great as well.

I will certainly move all my insurance to here but having a central resource would be appreciated.

Excellent idea Ian!

We’ll probably split some of these posts off in to a new thread for this as it’ll deviate from this insurance topic quite a bit, but if we start with the usual CAA Operator and Flyer IDs, and probably the A2 CofC, what else would you like us to add?

And what type of reminders / notifications would you like to receive?

Probably just the GVC and thanks!

I’m in. No-brainier. Simple process and docs available to download instantly. Well done guys.

Great news Paul @Pzaz !

You can upgrade your membership at: https://dronescene.co.uk/membership

Thanks @PingSpike for this. It took me a while to sort out, but eventually I realised I was an associate member and not a member. I have changed that now to insured member.

A16 authorisation is a bit of a red herring for me as my Mini Pro 3 & A2 CofC is fine for my work. I have separate insurance for using my drone for work. But this is great for recreational use. Thank you.
