An old newbie from Lincoln

I’ve been looking around the drone scene, standing on the outside for a good few years, 2023 was to be the year I took off, it never happened, although I did get my CAA Flyer & Op id’s sorted.

So, out of the blue for Christmas my better half only gives me a push in, getting me a drone, so here I am. Reading all the info I can find and looking forward to my first take off / flight.

For my first flight (in Lincoln), I live close to a sports & social club with grounds that I can use, once I ok it with the committee. I will also likely need to call RAF Waddington Duty Op’s to get the ok of them (restrictions on certain days / times).

Hopefully this flight / test will happen next weekend at the latest.

Hi Billy - welcome to GADC :+1: :+1: :+1:

@billyb_imp Good idea Billy. My sister-in-law lives in Lincoln and I’ve spoken with Waddington ATC a few times. Super helpful and you should be ok weekends as they rarily schedule flights during this time.

Ps. Did you mention what drone you have, cant see it?

@D0c.Col Drone Margaret got me appears to be a clone (4DRC F12) of a DJI mini or maybe a clone of a clone of a clone :joy::joy:

I will give it a go see how I get on then look to upgrade, maybe to a DJI Mini pro in the spring

@billyb_imp Hi Billy welcome to the club

Download and check “drone assist”. It helps show areas where there are restrictions

Our very own Drone Scene is way better though.
