Hi, I’m Andy, just joined after checking out this and other drone resources for a few weeks now. This is obviously the best! I got a tiny little drone at a gadget show in Birmingham many years ago. It was terrible to fly, lasted a few minutes until the battery was dead, but did fit easily in the palm of my hand, I still think I’ve got it somewhere. I loved the idea and picked up a my DJI Mini 4k on Amazon prime day. I’ve yet to fly it, it’s been too hot, now it’s too wet :joy: aiming to do the test and get my flyer ID soon though. :crossed_fingers:

Hi Andy - welcome to the club. I too am new and just done my first flight with my DJI mini 4. I was a bit anxious re crashing, loosing the Mini and other people but it all went well. Just concentrated on getting used to the controls and the way the drone responds and performs. The footage wasn’t great but is was a good start. The test is quite simple really so that shouldn’t be a problem, just remeber to label your drone with your OPERATOR ID. You can order these through the shop on here. I used a dymo label maker but its already peeling - LOL. The where can I fly my drone site is super useful - especially as I live near Gatwick Airport. Have fun and enjoy getting started.

Thanks for the tips Dan appreciated. Did the test, pretty easy too. I am now looking on eBay for a flight jacket !!, Did you get DJI refresh, somewhat torn myself as costs almost half the drone price if I lose it to replace? I don’t intend to lose it either lol. Guess as yours is more expensive I assume in the first place, it maybe worth it though. Also read you have to do within 48 hrs of first flight. Having never flown before, doesn’t give much time to decide does it. I’ll do the third party insurance here though, seems a great offer and want to support the club. Cheers

Hi Andy. I did get DJI refresh as it was par to the package (Fly more) as a special offer when I bought the drone. I agree 48 hours is too short a time - esp if you a new to drones bod to actually make up your mind. I’ve also done the insurance through GADC as I too wish to support the club. Flight Jacket ??

That’s a good deal for refresh then if included. Nice one. As Ive now got a pilots licence I thought I’d get a flying jacket. Terrible joke lol.

I have done the test and operation Id and got the insurance here by becoming a member I also went for the DJI 2 year refresh
