We all do stupid things too sometimes so don’t feel bad…bet it smarted some!
I recently changed props on my SG-906 Pro2 and stupidly put a reverse one on one motor.
I struggled to get it to take off but when it did it flew hard right into a brick wall!
I had to replace both front arms, motors and props. Luckily it wasn’t moving too fast or might have been a write-off.
My last encounter with the drone where it cut my fingers. When I looked back and thought…“Why did I do that.” Lesson, if you want to dry your drone if it gets wet, using it’s own rotors as a drier is not a great idea"
WTF that was close. ![]()
Good to see the you didn’t damage your eye.
Ouch!
Nasty.
Reminds me of my late father. When my older brother bought him his first computer, he gave him a quick hour long lesson in starting up the silicon pile and how to open a web browser. Within days, I thought my phone had become the Microsoft Helpline. He’d go on any website that took his fancy and download anything the web told him to download. Computer lasted about 6 months till it gave up the ghost ( it had more viruses than the local STD clinic see in a year) Later on he got a smartphone and my number changed to the Android Helpline, then brother got him an iPad and again, my phone became the Apple Helpline. Still miss the old bugger ![]()
Sorry …… more viruses than the clinic ![]()

May years ago… the date was Nokia 5146,

I had been a trialist for One2One and hutchinson microtel along with a friend of mine. When the 5146 came out I decided to kit the family out with them. My dad (bless him) was actually doing DJ work and carried on up until in is 70’s. I went to one of his gigs and as phones were a novelty to call someone was fun. So I called his mobile phone from the other side of the room. He looked at the phone in sheer panic. He grabs the microphone and announces… "does anyone know how to answer a phone and a voulenteer went up to end up speaking to me on the other side of the room. I realised another leson on the, that button answers and that hangs up. One night many people were contacting me saying their house phone was ringing with a BT text service. Found out he was trying to learn to text and was enterting land line numbers.
Yep, poor PC.
Oh they just keep coming…
Oh yes, I inherited dad’s sense of humour. I know he’ll be pissing himself up in heaven ( or it’ll be forming a cloud in front of him, down below )![]()

Yep done that.
After a month or so of inactivity a couple of years ago I charged the Mavic 2 Pro, ran the firmware updates and running out of time decided to give it a quick low level test in the garden.
It didn’t start well as the drone wasn’t responding due to the collision detection constantly stopping it, you can guess what happened next, into sport mode (no collision detection). Sitting down next to the garden table I intended to land on, I brought it in. Hovering over the table ready to land, controller slipped in my hand, right thumb full forward, it accelerated into my face with the right prop, then cut my arm before hitting the wall of the house.
The only reason I still have my right eye is that I was wearing glasses which were scratched badly but didn’t shatter thankfully. Lesson well and truly learned! The drone was amazingly completely undamaged.

In a town not far away, lived a bin man so grand,
Known for his clumsiness across the land.
One day with his drone, Avata 2 was its name,
He soared it up high, seeking fortune and fame.
But alas, poor bin man, his skills were quite sour,
The drone took a dive, heading straight for his tower.
With a buzz and a whirr, it zoomed with great haste,
And smacked him right in the face, not a moment to waste.
Now the bin man, astonished, tried to look tough,
But with Avata 2 on his face, he cried “Enough!”
For all who saw, it was quite the sight to see,
The bin man and his drone, a comical glee.
So remember this tale, of the bin man so bold,
Who flew his drone high, but the ending, I’m told,
Was a bump and a bruise, a lesson well learned,
To watch out for Avata 2, the drone that he spurned!

Update received for DJI today.
They are replacing my damaged Avata 2 and Goggles 3.
The initial quote was £720 for the repairs, but they are going to allow a claim against my Care Refresh policy.
So hopefully have my kit back by the weekend ![]()

@TheBinman do you have to put anything at all towards it??
To anyone who does not think care refresh is a good idea. Here is the proof it is. It is worth it for something you throw around the sky that at any time could crash or develop a fault.
Glad you do not have to pay £720. Good outcome.
If not then brill with the goggles.
I’ve had to the usual £39.00 plus £18.00 for the damage to Goggles 3.
£57.00 all in, is more acceptable than the £720, for the repair.
It turns out the Avata 2 GPS board was F##€ed too. I assume that’s why is was so expensive to repair
Just received my shipment notification, which includes the serial numbers of everything that I’m expecting (Avata 2, 3x batteries, charger, motion controller & Goggles) and everything has different serial numbers compared to the products I returned for repair, so I can only assume DJI has replaced everything with new ones.
