Avata hand catching. Watch which way you do it

It’s big!.

They only closed it on the 31st march this year, so we were straight on it😂. It’s owned by West Lancs Borough Council.

The plans, from what I believe is to use it for ‘leisure’, by that I’m thinking they’ll keep it the way it is, as the other side of the golfy is Beacon country park. But who knows🤷‍♂️.

There’s open spaces, woods, hills and bloody nice views. Shops are probably a mile away, nearest pubs too. And of course Skem is just off the motorway.

Oh 50 mins from me, 9 junctions up the M6, nice!

Yeah a Saturday/Sunday in July weather depending sounds good!

Yeah 12p across Warby Bridge and I am there :grinning:

Should we set up a meet see if anyone else is interested?

@Leylo1971 Ady whats the Parking like?

Big car park mate👍.

On Google maps you’ll see the ex clubhouse for the golfy which also houses the Ranger station.

There’s running water on the outside of the building, don’t know whether it gets turned off at a certain time🤷‍♂️

They’ve allowed cycle cross, cross country, dog shows and such on the usual country park so maybe🤷‍♂️.

I’m assuming our meet would be cordoned off somehow so Joe public can’t stray into the flightpath of a maniac fpv’r:joy:. Or would it :man_shrugging:.

I forgot to mention, there’s also the old college, ST. Josephs, directly across the road, it basically runs the same length and breadth of the country park itself. It is private land, not fenced off, easily accessible and there’s the country park car park direct across the road. Nobody bothers that your on there, lads in 4x4 use it for off roading and lads on crossers🤷‍♂️.
It’s the site of an old land fill, that used to be the college quarry. Nobody who I’ve talked to knows who owns it🤷‍♂️

If you get chance soon do us a video of it

That’s exactly what I was thinking while I was out with the dogs :+1:.
I’ll take the 2S out on Friday when I’m off, take a vid and try and give you an idea

@SparkyFPV Here’s the golfy

Hers’s the college land

Both substantial. Both use the same car park.

Would be good for a meet the Golfy

The Golfy and the college look good, is there any security onsite or anyone that would be unhappy with us having a fly for a few hours would you know?

On the college you have security, but from what I’ve seen while walking the dogs, it’s the equivalent of Asda security. And they, from what I’ve seen only patrol inside the fence which circles the college building. There are signs up with your usual no trespass, but it isn’t secure what ever. You get dog walkers, 4x4s, crossers etc.
One thing I noticed from my vid, they’ve started developing the main building, and the land itself was cut back a few months ago after decades of neglect. So the owners are taking more interest, but I can’t see that having an effect in the security.

The Golfy, you have ‘Rangers’. The Ranger station is situated at the golf clubhouse.
Me and the mate were flying and one happened to pass us in the 4x4, didn’t say anything. I know one of them through walking the dogs, Ben, nice lad, if I see him, but it’s not very often, I’ll ask him.

The good thing is, in the event of being turfed off one site, if you park on the Golfy car park, the college land is only a few minutes away😁
