Barbury Castle - new Pocket 2 & Mavic 2 Pro

The weather has been crap and I was maybe a little too eager to venture out and try my new DJI Pocket 2 from Father Christmas and the Active Track on my recently purchased Mavic 2 Pro. It feels as if it has been raining in Swindon for about 42 weeks straight. So it made sense to to head out one of the highest parts of Wiltshire in my trainers to test out the new gear :man_facepalming:

Any damage to the tablet? Looked like it took a flight of it own… :man_facepalming:t2:

Fortunately not. All the ports were full of mud, and the controller was completely caked. Had to spend about 20 minutes cleaning it all when I got home. Very lucky. My bag was the worst.

What the video doesn’t show - is me going arse over tit a second time. As by then, I had packed the Pocket 2 and M2P away. What a muppet

The things we do hey, for the perfect shot

Glad the damage wasn’t too severe :ok_hand:t2:

I was thinking moments before I fell … “hey, it’s like that Active Track advert off the DJI website” … I couldn’t have been further from the truth

Must admit, I was tempted to cut it from the video. But where’s the fun in that

That’s cheating  gotta take the rough with the smooth  drone use in winter certainly is a challenge.

Especially in trainers :man_facepalming:

Great video Chris - thoroughly enjoyed it - nice to see something different. Just pleased that no injuries or serious damage took place - but a lesson to us all and well done you for sharing :+1: :+1: :+1:

@clinkadink Chris, alway great to get out to try out those Christmas pressies to check them out , the Pocket 2 seemed to give good results , just a shame about this ruddy unseasonal weather :unamused:. Clad to hear your OK after your couple of stumbles, brave man to go out in trainers when its so muddy and very slippery. Hope all your kit survived OK too… :+1:

Cheers John! It was a recipe for disaster. Lesson well and truly learnt! I have a bad habit of wearing my trainers everywhere, rain, snow, beach, etc. From now on, I will be donning my hiking boots!!

Cheers Chris! Not sure about ‘brave’, stupid is probably a better word! Jokes aside, it could have been a lot worse, I could have injured myself and/or damaged my gear. I am lucky and from now on, will use appropriate footwear :+1:

Right, heading out again. This time with right footwear

we usually carry our walking boots, but sometimes you think that you might get away with not changing them before your walk only to regret it later

And still with the right choice of headwear for this expedition too

Really enjoyed that. Those Rode Go mics are really good I’ve used mine a few times and been impressed. Love that you kept the mishap in made me chuckle!

Must be a beautiful place when the weather plays ball. Hope your kit is all ok? and you of course?
Nothing worse than taking a fall … and brave to show it on here.
No doubt you will go back and finish the job of.
I can imagine shots there in the “Golden Hour”.
Thanks for showing what a great place it is.

Great footage especially the tumble - ouch.

I took a tumble larking around with my granddaughter and am still feeling it after 4/5 weeks - treatment at the sports physio, still ongoing and very little flying, at my age I should have known better.

Back to your video - learnt much about Barbury Castle, thanks.

Chris @clinkadink there is a bright side to this…

Your rather unfortunate video does now qualify you for the Plonker badge

It’s our only voluntary badge, if you’d like to accept it?

Sorry for laughing. People falling over is one of my go to YouTube searches when I need a smile.

All the clobber still a knobber as we say in these parts
