Beacon Golf Course Meeting V1.5 this Wednesday 9th August at 6PM

I don’t disagree. Interestingly, I’ve not had a response. That speaks volumes.

Have you seen the “consultation” that’s ongoing? To turn the golf course into a BMX race track ( I didn’t know BMX was popular), a bridle way and a go ape (they tried to do this about 15 yeah s ago).

I’ve raised an objection on the grounds of no where to fly in this “multi use” plan.

damn… missed the deadline!!!

oh gawd, not another SSSI!
glamping site… really?

there is a picnic site showing a kite… could that be swapped for a drone?

2023-08-08 14_00_59-Beacon Country Park - We welcome your thoughts and input

I submitted some feedback anyway as the links seemed to still work at the bottom of the page asking for a shared space for drone flights and activities where flights can be interesting between obstructions etc.

I’ve just found out I’m working in Manchester on Wednesday, so I’m unlikely to get home until 6:30

Fingers crossed I can join you all on the 13th.

We will be there till 9 ish if you can make it later

Unfortunately we are already busy n Wednesday, but will be there on Sunday

@robertspark Rob, I doubt that at the stroke of midnight the site stopped accepting comments. Yours will probably have got through.

recommend others to please submit some comments to consider hobby drone users to share the facility as we need an interesting and challenging (non boring/ sterile) area to fly

Wasn’t aware there was a consolation going on, but I knew the area was ear marked for ‘leasure’. My brother worked in the planning dept for 40 yrs.

They’ve had numerous ideas over the past 20 or so years…a dry ski slope was one them.

My concern with asking permission in the first place also was it’d hilite the fact that drones were being flown up there in the first place. And before you know it there’s signs up, the drone police are out in force and every Karen in the district will feel they have the right to kick you of the area.

Its a legal place to fly. We are good upstanding citizens. We are stakeholders.

We should be consulted its a legitimate leasure activity.

It’s the conversation with that Karen a few weeks back reminds me of…

Karen: “Are you planning on flying that here?”

Me: “Yes. Are you planning on walking your dogs here?”

Karen: "Umm yes, well… umm… "… Off she goes…

Should have been…How many people have died from dogs?

How many from Drones …now do one :joy:

Yeah… Then again when I put the wing up… It’s bloody noisy and am aware of it…

Though had one guy last night… “Alright mate, you’re the guy who flies the drones and planes… yeah everyone finks that’s cool, but when I bring my motorcross bike thingy down here and rip up the footy field they call the police on me…”…

Might be a reason for that mate…

Had another lovely really old lady on a walking frame setup next to us, I asked if was OK to take off as they are noisy and she was fine, and loved watching them. She’d just come out to see the field and get some peace. Another old chap who took an hour to do the 5 min walk round the field come over after we’d been flying telling me that he still had a few old diesel powered planes in the loft somewhere and the new tech just amazing… I’d say 70% positive/cool/interested, 29% not bothered, leave you to it, 1% might say something negative

Though actually it’s the teenagers going “Go on mate, can I have a go?” that’s most frustrating at the moment!

So with the IGOW stuff, we’ve been flying tinywhoops a lot down the local park. I never really did it before. It’s always so busy down there, but we had to go somewhere.

All has been fine apart from the odd dog walker who was unwilling to control their dog near my tiny little drone, or would insist that their dog would never go for it and took exception to me saying it might, and would they be up for paying the couple of hundred pounds replacement price.

How was I to know what their dog was like, especially when other owners said their dog would go after it!

I mean ffs… I did have one guy start to look aggressively at me before he quickly came to his senses.

In general I have come to hate dog owners… (present company excepted of course) … and the English obsession with the ruddy things.
