They are seriously noisy buggers something like 50 drones = 1 RC petrol car.
Yes we hear them and we are a distance from them. Also they rip up the grass. So no one can compare us to a drone. We may cut the odd few strands of grass on a crash… i mean landing… I actually flew at the same time as them one day above the cars and by the time they had finished there were tracks all over the park
I’ll be up again for the meet, evenings are a bit harder for me depending on the day. Had a good time last time even though very nervous and anxious.

Ha ha ha would be good to watch.
I actually have keys to some parts of the park next to the golf course, due to a long standing agreement with the rangers.
The further fairways stay very quiet, and I often fly down that end,.mid afternoon, without seeing a soul, so we would have an excellent space there.
I’ve enquired about a regular meet being officially recognised by the park rangers so they won’t feel duty bound to chase us off If a dog walking Karen or Ken feels compelled to complain. The worst they can say is no, but if they say yes…

Sounds good. I too have keys for a few parks but not through any official arrangements lol, an old friend was a ranger… just ended up with keys lol opps

Looks like an interesting location. Love that you can fly fixed wing there as well.
Would it be worth a 2 hour drive though?
It’s worth 1 so why not 2. Plus it’s not just the flying. It’s the meeting up with everyone else.

Abandoned golf course, it’s an awesome location mate… Long way for you yeah, but it’s closer for me than the helifield. Loads more that we didn’t explore. Nicer weather would have been good, but can’t get everything! Worth it I’d say (if weather great for you!)

I have fancied an abandoned golf course as a location. They’re all in use around me and unfortunately I missed the chance to fly at them during lockdown since I wasn’t into drones then!
If I can be sure that I will get to fly a few times, then I’d do 2 hours.
So weather is going to matter. I will watch this space. Also remember to keep me updated.

I considered this approach myself as I know one ranger very well, but at the end of the day I don’t think the Rangers would mind, as long as safety was adhered to.
It’s the people higher up the food chain that’d be the stumbling block ie the council or any other bods who want poke their noses in.
Just my opinion.
