Beginner wing build

Sorry always works for me…and Bardwell has his video stating 350ish min up to 450.

From 16 mins.

Maybe my soldering station isn’t accurate. Hot, in and out in a second. My joints are pretty solid, shiny and lovely.

Practice definitely worth it though…those practise boards are the best thing for FPV as they have all the pads you’d come across…

good luck for yourself and bardwell… I’ve only been soldering 30 years… I started in electronics repairing PCBs industrial and consumer electronics

don’t believe every YouTuber… some of them are just after clicks

This may be your saving grace in not burning off all the flux… Oh are we still talking soldering technique

I’d trust Bardwell (and he says from 350-450 depending on the item). I struggled under 400 every time, as well as with unleaded solder, and tend to go from 400-430 ( 430 for the larger power ones, I don’t use 450 personally), Bardwell states 350 → 450 if absolutely necessary so he starts in your range. Mr Steele uses 450(C) on his desk one, though he’s one strange lad, despite being a great freestyler and anagloue strange man.

So you likely got pro pro grade stuff, and very experienced. Maybe my cheaper iron under states the temp? Just saying what worked and works for me, and more heat (I started lower and couldn’t get it working well), quick on and off. I’ve personally yet to ruin anything from soldering, so… Seems to work fine for me. Sure someone here at the time said get to 400ish too as I struggled to start. I’m wiring up some motors at the weekend, will try 340 and see how I get on.

I use 340 on my TS100 and works well :+1:t2:

Not cheap :grimacing:

In my early flying days I used this style of GPS locator, worked a treat, cheaper and communicates with a mobile phone

But if in the box of spares. And it’s a bird tracker, he’s put it on a bird heh

how do you guys mount your rx antenna internal or external. does it matter.

This was how I mounted mine:

But if you’re using ELRS then your antenna will be considerably smaller :+1:t2:

Definitely External :+1:t2: for best range.

On the bottom good. My diversity one has one of bottom and one vertically through. Line of sight to ground radio is good, but these ELRS should way out last the video signal no matter where you mount them!
