I see this greenwich park has not been pinned on drone scene, looks a good place to get some shots of the London skyline, would you know best place to park & maybe the less busier times ?
Would make a nice place to visit over looking the skyline near sunset & after / night time any tips welcome ![]()
Parking is available all along that driveway from where I flew the drone to and back, they are pay and display parkings unless you have a Blue Badge as I do and in that case disabled bays are very close to the Observatory and are free.
Unfortunately it is busy at most times because of the Shephard’s Gate Clock which shows the Greenwich mean time
see below

and the Observatory and Planetarium attractions, this place is very busy, yesterday not so much at that time (5pm) so you’ve got to pick your days and your time.
See parking bays below
@Kirky was suggesting that you might add the location, and associated into, to dronescene.co.uk for the benefit of others.
P.s.: Greenwich Park is not pinned probably because drone usage might not exactly be allowed, I was lucky to get away with it, to be honest.
I don’t think the place allows drone, as I said I might just have gotten away with it. Last year before DJI changed the permission status every time I would take off from there it would say Restricted Area close to London City Airport and ask for my mobile number to get an approved responsibility ticket.
City Airport hasn’t moved … so either it’s OK or it isn’t - and FRZ permission is needed.
That’ll do nicely !
ok I will add it to the places to fly…
I forgot how to, anyone got the link of where to add?
It was in the post above …
I tried and it won’t allow me, maybe because I am no longer a paid member. No worries. I’ll leave it off. Good luck to those who go there.
You don’t need to be. Just click on Add Location … once you’ve actually logged in on DS.
I’ll have another go, cheers
done hopefully it should be there now.
Greenwich Park is definitely a no drone zone. All Royal Parks come under The Royal Parks and Other Open Spaces Regulations 1997 which are enforced by the Metropolitan Police ever since the Royal Parks Constabulary were disbanded.
I believe it’s Regulation 6 that covers drones.
However Richmond is the only Royal Park with an approved designated drone flying area.
oh dear I thought so… sorry for adding it to the safe place to fly!
Moderators please remove as it’s not allowed. (As I thought)
The actual Royal Parks legislation / regulation is in the below link.
