Blackpool council are trying to include drones in their PSPO against anti social behaviour

Yawnvana

On a side issue, big up to Blackpool Council for being so quick on an FOI request ;o)

how would one know that a PSPO was being sought?

how would one go about contesting it as a poor drone pilot (spend all my money with FPV gear…)

Yep, put in yesterday, replied today, however,

Tonbridge and Malling Council have got the restriction on drones in their PSPO. by in my opinion using the order for a purpose which it was not designed for. An abuse of their powers.

Seems the results are in as the gazette has reported. But there is no mention of drones.

Wouldn’t surprise me if drones are included in this PSPO though. Councils often ignore public opinion when implementing such schemes.

keep an eye on when it is issued and we can lodge a challenge as I thought we only had a few weeks after one is issued to raise the challenges

I will be flying in Stanley Park one day this week, see what happens…

Thats if Debbie does get in the way.
Apart from that i would hazard a guess that it will be uneventful.

I wonder if anyone has raised a FOI request to get an update on the level of responses, for each of the questions they asked?
Its interesting that there is absolutely no mention of Drones in the article, but they do mention pretty much all the other areas that were listed as questions

Wow, there’s been zero complaints about the flying of drones in Blackpool, yet the council consider them a nuisance :open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth: ( sounds like the voting residents have elected a load of Karens and Kens :wink::wink:

Or stasi. Determined to impise their will on everyone.

How did they decide to add drones as one of the possible things that residents could decide needed greater restrictions?

That’s staggering really that they added drones to that potential PSPO for absolutely no reason!

Don’t think they actually specified drones but they included remote controlled water, air or land based vehicles, drones would come under that rather large, unspecific umbrella. Armed with a copy of the reply to my FOI I will continue flying in my usual places.

Drones would come under the remote controlled air vehicles surely ? Doesn’t have to specifically say drones.
Look at the problems XJet ( Bruce Simpson) is having with his local council in New Zealand at the Tokoroa Airfield ( where there is / was an active model aircraft flying club):wink: ( if you don’t know who XJet is, look up his channel on YouTube) :+1::+1:

As stated take action against it NOW as you will only have a few weeks to oppose it . Once it’s in it cannot be changed for 3 years. It criminalises drone flying in the areas they manage.
Biggest reason to oppose it is the legislation was not drawn up to control the use of drones, they are acting outside their powers. But they try abd

Tonbridge & Malling Council have done just that sneaked PSPO in behind backs.with just a few supporting votes. But you can still fly from “their” land providing you seek permission which entails a ridiculous amount of paperwork, and a heavy fee as well. Little dictators.
However it comes up for renewal in 2025 so there will need to be a concerted effort to block it as they introduced it for reasons that the legislation was not designed for.

not drone related but an interesting read of pspo challenge (or rather the process and basis of an appeal)
