Forecast looks a little better for this afternoon

Gorgeous here. The sun is blazing, there’s not even a breeze. Perfect. And I’m stuck at work. Got the day off on Friday though so…

Without even powering it on by the looks of things. They are talking about 120mph winds for the Southwest coast of Ireland; that’s apocalyptic!!!. I’ve only just straightened my fence from the last lot, it’ll probably take on a bit of lean over the weekend!

Might be a good idea to take it down for the duration…

Oh, I won’t have to take it down! If it blows down properly the landlord can replace it, one of the very few good things about renting…

It’s getting a bit blowy here now…

I just launched my Mini 4K in stronger winds, than I would have normally, (locally) and was really surprised at the operation considering… 30mph winds with 39 gusts.

from the video you wouldn’t know at all…

Last storm I didnt take the potato out in the morning because I was too busy fixing my garage roof that was damaged. Tomorrow may be a rematch. There has to be more than 118mph in it.

I checked my power situation and Ive lost a second DJI FPV battery so Im down to 2. And that drone rinses one in under 5 minutes if youre pushing it. Not much flight time for the conditions but Il see how it goes. I know a place noone else will be and have an unwilling spotter on standby.

I think I’ll be giving any flights a bit of a miss. Fair enough, these are gusts and not sustained, but still.

Wise decision. What the forecasters describe as ‘gusting’ may involve squalls, which can be very locally violent and last for several minutes, in which time they can do a lot of damage!

Yep, as a sailor I find gusts far more dangerous than sustained wind.

Looks like the peak has passed here, luckily nowhere near as strong as forecast.
