We were right next to the airfield. Literally had thise huge aircraft carrier things taking off every 30 mins. The ATC couldn’t have been more accommodating though. I get the feeling if you reach out you will always be given permission, based on the fact you have shown courtesy rather than just crack on and do it in silence. In fact, thinking about it the first high pan woukd have been directly over the runway. Damn. Hadn’t even realised till now.
