Calke Abbey, a National Trust failure or an historic gem? You decide!

Often visit this place for a chill walk, quick look around the house or scoff a cream tea. Well worth a visit.

Video has a narrated history or just look in the YT description.

Drone shots are at 2 and 3 times zoom, so not the best as TOAL outside National Trust boundary is a challenge here, but look ok I think (I’m sure you’ll let me know if they aren’t)!

Another corker, Col. It’s all too common nowadays to see landmarks such as this handed over to NT to save expense. That said, NT do do a great job at maintaining these. I do like that they don’t try and ‘do them up’, but rather keep them stock. Nice blend of land and air in the vid, really enjoyed this mate. Well done

@clinkadink Cheers Chris. Yes it’s sad that so much of our great buildings have been left to rot or destroyed due to crippling inheritance tax and local council butchery and that the NT have been an avenue for heirs to escape their burden, but at a price of course. My vid out next week touches on this. Thx for commenting. :+1:
