Amazon do one a tad cheaper

Holdpeak HP-866B-WM Digital Anemometer Handheld LCD Wind Speed Meter for Measuring Wind Speed, Barometer Indicator,Temperature and Wind Chill with Backlight and Max/Min https://amzn.eu/d/79kBYjX

This is cheaper still  Use this:

1 Extend digit upwards. (,left or right hand)
2. Open mouth and suck digit until wet.
3. Extend arm with moist finger iupwards to the sky.
4 if finger goes cold its windy if temperature remains the same…its not.

:rofl::rofl:

Not really much use though, at today’s NW Meet up there was very little wind at 2m but 30m up it was howling

I just needed to look at the treetops :+1:

Been bloody howling for 3 weeks in Preston. Im hoping August gets calmer!

Yeah defo, You should have come along today Paul would have been great to meet you and have a fly

I work every weekend Wayne, couldnt even get 20 miles down the road.

Used to live in Standish, went to Shevington High School.

If only I flew at head height

Got one from AliExpress for £6 and use regularly
No need to spend massively on them.

Save your money , wind speed at ground level can be very local, better/cheaper use Beaufort scale - Wikipedia and not fly at anything above say 6 - “Large branches in motion; whistling heard in telegraph wires; umbrellas used with difficulty”

Or if you really want to spend get a weather station + https://jackstromberg.com/2018/06/setting-up-weewx-with-a-raspberry-pi/

Me too, £6 well spent, just gives an indication for a novice like me

Ah, the famous tumbleweed low-altitude drone. Very sturdy and versatile, always gets straight back in the air after a crash.

Unfortunately, it is uncontrollable in the slightest breeze, has no GPS and the camera is rubbish. But spare parts are cheap and easily available.
