ChillRaven’s Intro - London Dagenham

Hello everyone,

I’m officially joining the drone community after getting my hands on a DJI Mini 5 Pro. The catch? I’ve never flown one in my life!

I’ve been trying to research London’s flight rules, but the sheer volume of information out there has my head spinning. I want to make sure I’m doing everything by the book, so I’d incredibly appreciate any tips from the local experts here to help me get started safely.

If anyone is planning a local meetup or wants to link up, count me in. Enjoy the beautiful weather, everyone!
Best,
Harry

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

Our Bronze Members are able to enjoy a lot of great services for free but our Silver and Gold Members are eligible for a whole lot more! Read all the details about our Membership Benefits?

And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.

What’s up, Fire Flies?

How difficult can it be to find one person to clear for takeoff with? I love the view from up here, but it’s getting lonely in the clouds. I need a co-pilot to make these weekend flights official.

The Grid:

Where: Romford, Dagenham, and surrounding East London spots.

When: Whenever the weather cooperates and the batteries are charged.

If you’ve got a drone, a fully charged pack, and want to capture some epic footage together, let’s connect. Drop me a line and let’s make it happen.

Hi from sunny Blackpool

Welcome @ChillRaven83 to GADC. Don’t forget if you haven’t already, you must register with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and get your Operator ID and then take the test to get your Flyer ID. Then and only then are you legal and able to fly a drone in public areas.

Based in Dagenham, London

Thanks

Bro. i have my Operators ID and Flyers ID… Born ready…

Nice.
I would strongly recommend getting on the simulator. I put in around 5-7 hours before I took my drone out for it’s first light. While you don’t need to use the SIM, it put my mind at rest as I knew how to take off and how to operate it, rather than thinking I did because I watched some YouTube videos.
