This was suggested by YouTube. I was interested to see the drones, how they lay them out before takeoff etc.
Moved your post over to this catch-all thread for posts related to drone displays.
Probably be crap but know there’s a fair few Coventry/Warwickshire folks on here. Might be worth a social meet if nothing else.

I went to Hollywood Birmingham as they had a display for paramount plus. I think there were 900 in total. Thus was just before i bought my first drone in around mid 2022… i have filmed it and if i can share i will… it was pretty good. At the end there was a Q R code but upon taking off a few lights were not working but the pictures looked amazing. Such fantastic tech.
We were at hollywood too
I have worked with many companies in the UK that offer drone light swarms, mainly as an alternative to fireworks, which people seem to prefer nowadays. One of the biggest and most professional companies in the world is based in Yorkshire.
A recent display I worked on for a major cruise line was cancelled 40 minutes before the display was due to take off (approx 600 drones) due to the winds locally. A pure operator decision, and the correct one, not to fly after literally 6 days of on site programming and testing. (Not sure the cruise line Captain was over the moon about changing his plans either!) I am not an expert on the software they use, but it is amazing to see the level of detail that does go into this. Once programmed on a computer (and a back up duplication) it is hours of ensuring each individual drone is exactly in the right spot on the ground and receiving the signal inputs, not only for the actual flight path, but also for the correct signals for the lights to go on and off (and change colour) on each drone.
There is a mountain of scrutiny, not only from the CAA with the operational flight plans, but also a seperate level of scrutiny and diligence for the overall public safety.
You may also be interested to read that following a succesful testing period a few months ago, a major display in the Middle East will for the first time later this year be deploying pyrotechnics from drones at approximately 80m/100m agl.
hope this is of interest

Thought I’d share this, I watched this live on TV, and found it on YouTube. Over 500 drones for Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2023 ABB FIA Formula e Championship.
Illumineer with 200-300 drones testing in daylight in at Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom Factory in Florida:
They’re carbon fibre and designed to stack in transit.
Amazing multicolour, fluid dragon in the sky above Shenzen Longhua Park, China, apparently one day or so ago.
Parts of the footage are obviously sped up, but I say it’s still very impressive.
The landing sequence is very impressive!
