In the process of buying my first drone. Done the ID thing. I am based in Uttoxeter - where can I safely learn to fly the drone? It is expected to arrive on Thursday. Been doing a lot of reading, but still very unsure as to where to start to learn. My local park?

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

Welcome to the club @AsparagusX . Looking on Dronescene, there’s no restrictions in Uttoxeter itself. East Staffordshire Council don’t have any policies nor byelaws relating to the flying of drones either, so yep the local park might be as good a place as any.

To get into the whole drone thing, and as a completely new beginner, I decided to design and 3D print a ‘home base’ for Gandalf (the grey) Mini 4K. Herewith first effort.

Welcome to GADC! I am also a newbie but have found it helpful to try my drone out very early in the morning, or late in the evening. Am in Scotland so can benefit from the longer days at this time of year.

Could I make a suggestion for v2? 
Add another four squares around the edges, to make it one large square. You may struggle to land a 249g drone dead centre in the slightest of breezes
