Bloody hell haven’t mastered 18 yet. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::rofl:

Ha. In the same way that I doubt there’s one person in the world that knows how to use everything in Excel … I’d imagine the same is true of Resolve.

No changes in the nuts and bolts, you can use 19 and not even realise anything’s changed … except, perhaps for

I dabble with Fusion quite a bit … so I probably know 0.5% of that …

One thing about Resolve that appeals to me is that I know it can do pretty close to anything … and I love the challenge of finding out how to do something that comes to my mind, or I see on TV, and learning from that trial and error process.

Thats. What i like, i seen something in a YT video being doen in resolve an think oh that vool.

The big thing for me will be being able to use my GPU to encode.

Anything that helps cut down that time will be really helpful.

I’m still planning to buy Studio as there are a lot more features available that I’d like to look at and use

I think that will remain a Studio option.

We all know this is insanely powerful software with a shit load of features … and they need some leverage to sell Studio to cover their costs.

I got Studio because I needed a couple of Studio-only tools for a specific video I was working on, even though for the most part I don’t actually use them.

Managed to offset half the cost by also getting the Speed Editor that bundles the Studio version with it.

You do need a 64bit computer to run version 19. My 32bit computer only runs v18

Whilst my 8 year old laptop is 64bit, the NVIDIA GPU isn’t NVIDIA Studio driver compatible … so I won’t get everything on offer.

Such is life - things move forward and can’t forever be compatible with the myriads of old tech.

6 year old Asus router doesn’t do new 1GB up/down broadband speeds, etc.

Im not complaining. V18 does everything I want it to.

The only 18 to 19 changes summary YT I’ve seen, so far.

At least he concentrates on features that many might use, and probably more than most will use.

We all know that DR has SO many many options (that change depending on the active Tab), and finding one we know exists can be a real pain.

This will really help a lot of people (including me) that know a menu option exists and can never remember where to find it.

Under the Help menu, there’s now a Search option …

Enter the menu item you’re looking for and a list of the best matches comes up …

… the expanded menu to get to it is displayed …

Those really new to DR - this isn’t a How to … search. The absolutely huge PDF manual (that will have been downloaded with the install - and the route to it is in that first screenshot) is the bible. However - it’s so huge you still really need to know what you’re wanting to search for.
Probably best to stick to YTs that are aimed at the beginner.

Not sure if Black Friday related, or not, but DR (and some panels) are currently 20% off.

Edit: This is the first time Blackmagic Design have ever discounted DaVinci Resolve on its own.

Good time to buy Studio. Strangely, they are advertising the original DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel (top right in pic), but it no longer seems to exist on their website. Still available through some resellers though. I bought it a while back and love it, but Micro it isn’t. Slightly tempted by the new much smaller DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, but I’d probably miss the heavyweight trackballs and rings. Anyone tried both for comparison? No DR software licence with the new one of course, and only works with DR19 on.

Saw some reviews when the new one came out - and whoever it was seemed suitably impressed. Don’t recall who it was off the top of my head.
