I think I’ll be okay with the amount of post production… Mrs C just sent me this:
The DJI Avata 360 Hard Case is now in production and will be shipped from China next week available for pre-order now. Thanks for all your support yesterday. Sorry the A360 has been delayed but it is not just us, it’s for everyone, a bit crap I know but still looking forward to this great new drone. Here is the link for the case https://www.leicesterdrones.com/?product=avata-360-startrc-case
And Jason speaks a lot about 360 studio in this
Its all about what you do in the edit with the 360 cameras
Still torn between Avata 2 and the 360, it’s the voices in my head honest ![]()
Yet another 360/A1 comparison video.
When the A1 was first revealed, I was really excited. I could see something that could potentially replace my Mavic Mini, which I basically no longer fly due to constant connection issues and a complete lack of trust in it, but also would be somewhat more closely aligned to FPV, which is the bulk of my flying these days. And those A1 goggles are hella cool! ![]()
Now we’ve got the Avata 360, and it seems to be a clear winner for my use case. I generally fly for flying’s sake, and videos are a by-product. If I do want a video, I am more than happy to spend hours editing 3 minutes of footage, and having 360 footage means I don’t have to worry about what I’m recording at the time (this applies to both machines, obviously).
Another advantage of the 360, is that it drags me into the DJI eco-system, opening the door to the possibility of upgrading my FPV fleet to O4 video units.
On the down side, it drags me into the DJI eco-system, opening the door to the possibility of spending huge amounts upgrading my FPV fleet to O4 video units.
However, there are two main things preventing me from jumping straight in on the Avata 360.

I’ve seen mention of “no full manual”. As a primarily FPV pilot, I can imagine this being disappointing. Although I suspect there may be a possibility of it being provided via a firmware update further down the line.

Those A1 goggles are hella cool!

The other worry about the Avata 360 is the plethora of choices for what I actually end up buying. The drone itself, obviously, but then what? I’d definitely like some goggles, and while the instinct is to get the cheapest, is suspect the Goggles 3 would be the sensible choice. But then, which controller? I’d naturally gravitate toward the FPV controller, but would that restrict my ability to configure the drone itself? Would I be better off with the RC2? Given the current lack of “full manual”, do I really need the FPV controller anyway?
I’m actually quite glad it’s not going to be here for a while. It’ll give me more pondering time, and maybe time for a few firmware updates and improvements that might clarify my options.
And then, of course, there’s the question of whether I should also be considering the Avata 2.
Well the deed is done ![]()
@Raider Which way did you go? ![]()

Yes I like Henrik as well. He always makes me smile while showing you just what you need to know.
@milkmanchris Didn’t think Avata360 had a manual mode, Chris? ![]()
Boys messing with their toys ;o)
So far none of the reviews or comments I’ve seen on the A360 have mentioned the issue of high shutter speeds in AE or the need for NDs in manual.
I imagine it will be harder to make an ND that secures firmly to both lens without encroaching on the 360° perspective.
Heliguy seems to say it doesn’t support NDs
Me too ![]()
I’m still trying to decide whether to get the DJI Avatar 360 as a second drone. I’m excited about the possibilities!
What is your first drone then?
Dji mini pro 5
I’ve seen half a dozen videos regarding the Avata 360. All of them say this is set to be a great “second” drone - that the camera being an 8K 360, just isn’t able to compete with the single lens variants.
