Hi Guys, I urgently require your assistance today.
I lost my mini 3 pro this afternoon, whilst flying round our local river. the drone suddenly shot off away from me, and into the trees on the riverbank, and presumably then into the river, after searching for some time with a colleague, we were unable to locate the drone, the screen shot showed it in the river, but unsure how accurate that is, I went back later today to look further, but was unable to locate my drone.
I would like pointed in the right direction, please, as to what is the best action to take.
I do have DJI after care plan, and am an insured flyer through GADC, which way is the best option, or do I call it a day, and just but a replacement Mini drone
DJI Care Refresh is your only option.
Sorry to hear about your lost drone, GeeOjay; lost mine a few weeks ago to seagull attack, so I feel your pain.
Claim through Care refresh, the GADC insurance is cover for public liability (damage to third parties and/or their property).
Can you stick the flight data on here via Airdata Some of us might be able to see what when wrong and where it landed. Probably wint get your drone recovered, but it might help support your claim if it is classed as a flyaway.
I don’t think DJI care refresh covers that, you need the faulty drone for replacement.
However it is possible to get just the drone on ebay, I replaced my Mini 2 for about ÂŁ110, I had all the other bits. Worked fine.
If your implying to the lost / fly away drone it does cover that ( with a fee to pay ) is also the whole point of having DJI care refresh plan ….
If it’s a flyaway, tnen no, you don’t need the faulty drone. How are you meant to recover a flyaway that was caused by a fault in manufacturing or software/firmware? Which is why the airdata could be really important, and could also provide a completely free replacement with no fee.
Awaiting response from DJI, early next week I hope
You got the Airdata link
I did thanks, probably quite simple for most but for an aged person, it looks complicated, will have another look tonight.DJI have not yet been able to upload, their instruction did not follow their page directions, only the first point worked, all else failed, so had to phone, doing it tomorrow. Thanks
An update from DJI, Received a call from them this morning, to try and facillitate the air data upload for analysis, simple you might think, but oh no, it appears that this cannot be done because I use a Mac computer, cant believe they have not got this one sorted, apparently Android only, so I now have to wait 48hrs for a return package label, and sent the complete RC unit to them the resolve, which they state will take a further 3-5 days, calling them back, I asked if I could upload the data from a colleagues PC, and they said yes, so will be trying that later today.
If all goes to plan, they will get my flight data today, which I have to, yto comply with the flyaway contract, hopefully reducing the postal, and waiting time, which if it goes the long way, and I have to post the RC, will leave me without a drone for about 4 weeks.
I have a Mac - your flight data is synced with DJI and that data can be synced to AirData
Be sure to be logged into your DJI account and that your flight data logs have synced - go to AirData.com and create an account there and in the settings there is a way to link your DJI account to AirData - via that you can view all sorts of things - warnings etc that you may have missed while flying.
You can then share a link here of that flight and there are some mega knowledgeable people here that can point you in the right direction to what went wrong.
Having a Mac has nothing to do with it.
Also if you have an iPhone that you used for your flights you should be able to go to the Files App and then go to the On My iPhone section and you will find a folder called DJI Fly in there there is a Logs and flight record details that you should be able to just click on and share via email - copy etc too.
The data is synchronised to the dji server from the fly app, no pc is required
If you have the RC with the screen theres no need for a PC, mac, android or iphone link. Airdata links to your DJI account you use to fly your drone. If you have the one that the phone attaches to ignore me.
Just link you RC (with screen) to a wifi network or hotspot on your phone.
By the end of the day I had worked out it was nothing to do with my computer, but still the data fails to transfer to DJI, their instructions fail to give the the final Upload/send button, tried it on a colleagues RC for his mini 3 pro, and everything worked on his screen, also on other wi-fi networks, most failed to see the wi-fi signal, so I am beginning to think that the RC could be at fault, any way got the details to send it off to dji on Friday.
Would like to be able to follow your instructions, but I find it all a bit confusing for me, sorry
What bit do you want to follow.
1- DJI sync to DJI?
2 - DJI to sync to Airdata.com
3 - finding the files on an iPhone?
Let me know and I will DM You with some instructions and screen shots to help mate
Will be tomorrow though when I am at a computer to type it all out.
@GeeOjay stick with it mate. I too am an old f4rt with a MacBook Air and this forum helped me no end to figure out the RC to DJI - DJI to Airdata trail and once done, it isn’t as complicated as it initially seems, it is a real joy to be able to see every, and I mean every, detail of every flight. The significant tip is setting the RC to auto upload flight data to DJI.
An added bonus is that it provides irrefutable proof of exactly where you have flown should you ever be accused of flying where you shouldn’t. (Providing you haven’t of course )
