Hi
I asked last night if non cellular connection ( but has the capability ) I pad or whatever device will show the map within the dji fly app whilst flying etc - I was asked by the committee to check Q A I have and I can’t find anything ( I’m sorry if I’m doing some thing wrong ) can someone kindly have the knowledge to point me in the right direction - please - I pad 6 - MA2 - non cellular but does have the option to insert sim but don’t want to start another contract if I don’t need too . I’m sorry for posting this again but also google is very conflicting - Thankyou
Maybe this thread?
Thankyou so much @markas it has the option for cellular so maybe just a PAYG sim for the maps would that work
Big Thankyou
If it has Wi-Fi just load up the maps before hand in the app, and you will have them when you fly
Try it see if it works
Thankyou
Other than that can I hot spot to my phone when I get to destination load it all up then turn hot spot off
Kind regards
I use iPad mini , you just need to put a SIM card , any SIM card in the slot , you don’t need to register it or pay anything to activate the GPS , I use a free Vodafone sim they sent me I put it in then totally ignored it / forgot about it and my maps and compass works in the fly app perfectly
Really !!!
So PAYG do I not need too top it up at least once to activate it
Big thanks @scottydog
No you never top up or register it or anything at all , it just needs a SIM card in the slot to activate the GPS . The very top of the screen will show signal bars but you won’t be able to access the internet but for some reason having a SIM card in switches the gps on . I’ve have a free pay as you go in my mini 5 for 2 years now , I get the occasional request from Vodafone to activate it now I just ignore them and it keeps working, if I am away from WiFi I tether the iPad to my phone via the mobile hotspot . With a sim in my compass , map drone and my location are spot on . Hope that helps .
That is a big help many thanks
