DJI Fly - App updates and download links

Hi, is anyone running DJI Fly on a Huawei MediaPad T3?

I got one a few weeks back and installed Fly 1.5.8 on it and could only connect the tablet to the controller with the short usb C to usb mini supplied for a phone that comes with the drone and it worked OK (as far as I could tell connecting t’drone in our flat, all info and video feed OK) then forgot about it whilst I waited 12 days for a longer cable…(fkkkin’ Yodel!)

Used my new cable and 1.5.8 either won’t show the video, or will then go black and crash the app, so did a factory reset of the tablet and installed FlyApp 1.4 - tried that in the park today and it worked but was all jittery on the camera feed and also the cache file, haven’t checked the SD card yet but I’d imagine that’s fine.

Got home and upgraded to 1.5.0 and it’s better, it’s useable but I’m just wondering if the tablet is a bit too old now to run much above that, let alone running 1.5.10.

I’ll try upgrading until it fails and let you know :+1:

Are you sure your new cable is upto the job , it sounds to me like it’s your cable that’s the problem, that said I’m just in after a 15 hour shift but if I where you I would try the old cable and see if you get the same problem

Looking at the specs it’s going to struggle but you should try version 1.4.0

Be careful though as Huawei will auto-update the app in the background

Cheers @SparkyFPV and @scottydog

I’ve tried the standard, short cable that comes with the drone for a phone, and even that won’t cooperate with the versions I’ve tried 1.5.8/1.5.9 and 1.5.10 - 1.4 works but is quite jittery on the tablet. Version 1.5.0 works better.

As it’s a “bit” rainy here today so I’ll try and go up the versions until it doesn’t work

I tried again, the newest version that works, i.e doesn’t crash and displays a picture on the screen is v1.5.1(2) - I haven’t flown it yet (probably this afternoon) but the picture displays fine when I pick the drone up and zoom around the front room making drone noises (what???)

Version 1.5.1(2) works fine as far as I can tell, no jittering on the tablet, nice picture, no drop-outs.

Now, I’ve just found out you can stick an SD card in it…(I know) - if this will allow me to upgrade the FlyApp I dunno yet but I’ll give it a try. :+1:

Thought I’d share in case it can help someone else.
I have been using 1.5.4 along with drone tweaks and been suffering constant video loss and app crashes. Huawei MediaPad M5 SHT-W09, Android version 9, Kirin 960 octacore processor, 4GB ram
Initially thought it was flying inside factories that was causing the problem, lots of inverters, motor drives, bluetooth and wifi noise.
Last Thursday I decided to go back to version 1.4.8. Not a single problem on first test flight inside the same factory. No problems outdoors on second test flight. Yesterday I flew for four batteries, and guess what? Not a single problem!!! Guess I’ll be sticking with 1.4.8 from now on. Just wish I had thought about it sooner as I’ve been too nervous to fly as much as I could have.

It’s always a good idea to expand storage space, but I don’t think it will increase the overall performance, system RAM is what plays a part in this. You could look to see what APPs are running in the background, and if not essential you can force stop them from the settings menu.

If the DJIFly APP wasn’t so bloated, and intent on becoming sentient, then even our later model M5 devices may still be on DJI’s preferred list, as they used to be.

I’ve pretty much ditched the DJIFly APP on my Huawei devices in favour of Litchi. It runs so much smoother and isn’t your overbearing parent that one day you’ll dismember and wear their skin as a new suit…… and my therapist was so convinced I’d made a great improvement.

:joy: Litchi is probably the way I’ll go with this tbh.

Sounds like your therapist earns their fee!

Version 1.6.1 has landed to Support the Mini 3

But be wary

Hi all does anyone know if it’s ok to update from 1.5.10 to the new version iOS ? Or shall I just forget it - on my last app update the one above the menu is very jittery when open but only when connected to the drone ( it’s annoying ) but does not affect flight - also pics and videos don’t go straight to my phone ( I phone 12 ) any thoughts or recommends welcome !
Thanks in advance

Moved your post over to this thread that discusses all DJI Fly app updates, and their issues, if any.

Hi all
Anyone know about this update ? Is it safe to update or shall it’s best to leave it !
Thanks in advance

Installed it and will try later today. Not so bothered about Fly updates, using Litchi unless I want to take a 360.

I’ve just noticed on my my Tablet ( Google ) the fly app app on the tablet shows last update 20 sept 21 ? I use it quite a bit and always check for updates when drones are connected and with the drones connected it’s upto date and on my iPad mini 5 it updates on just the app updates regularly, I don’t use the Google powered tablet as much as I use the iOS for the fly app but can anyone advise if this is a problem or how to get it sorted . I remember they don’t auto update through the play store anymore but I’m sure it used to come up . Any advise welcome

From an Android app store? All DJI apps are now downloaded direct from their website, and have been for quite some time.

See the post 3 above yours.

What is the latest version of the fly app for Android ? I know how I can check what it’s on but as I said I don’t use it much for fly it’s mostly go 4

If you read that post you’d know.

I have it as v1.6.8 but it has it as v1.6.1 but I guess there has been more since then

… and followed the link to the download centre …

It’s all there.
