DJI launching an app to allow ANYONE to view your flight info

That’s not quite the way I see it as if & when these ones come to the attention of the Authorities, Then they have the ‘weight of the Law” to throw the book at them

Conversely If you make a genuine mistake and your ‘pulled’ and you have Insurance, relevant Permissions/authorisations from the CAA are polite and respectful Then I see no reason why the ‘officer of the law’ wouldn’t conclude ‘I have better things to do’ and bid you a good day Responsible Flyer at worse case he might ask you to Co-operate with him/her in keeping all agreeable and ask you to ‘move on’

I’m not sure how many of you law abiding citizens have dealings with the police.

Last year I gave around 100 police statements involving some pretty nasty crime as well as the shoplifting, theft and ASB stuff (as part of my job).

Only 1 went to court (sexual assault), and the only ones taken seriously were hate crimes.

They won’t respond on a 999 to an illegal flyer (unless you’re really taking the piss flying over very sensitive stuff), and good luck getting a response on 101.

I’ll be glad when the weather brightens and the talk is of flying and not the moans about barriers in our way .

Because if, ‘ifs and buts were crisps and nuts we’d have one hell of a party’

I too have “many friends” who are in the “Force”,
I have (many times) spoken to them, and had much the same response from them about calls on illicit Drone Flying.
“We would not bother, just head to the nearest “Maccy Dees” for Coffee”

Ask a guy later what just happened there never knew we had that many :policeman: :policewoman: Local to us

A/ straight on shift 6pm out into the cars and off to the next but nearest chippy (much better) Well at least that saves them having to waste 45mins of their private life at home

In a couple of years if the laws keep on the way they’re going, it won’t matter what the weather is like…

In a couple of years we will have bought our C class UASV’s and won’t give it a second thought we’ll be to busy dodging the delivery drones :joy:

All the doom and gloom around here is more likely to put people off than regulations.

If I was thinking of taking up the hobby and read half the crap I wouldnt bother.

Must say I’m not too bothered - if anyone uses the app to locate me for nefarious reasons I will just have to dust off my baseball bat with “Attitude Adjuster” written down the side that I used to bring up the kids - pre Child Line of course :flushed:

Doom and gloom is talked about because it is ‘doomy’ and gloomy. There is no suggestion of retro grading our existing drones so that will be a nuisance. And unfortunately not everyone will be able to afford a new classification UAV so will be driven out of it.

If the news was all jolly and uplifting then the tone would be different.

It was the same with registration.

Doom and gloom, everyone moaning and the world hasn’t ended.

If people really want to fly close to people they have 2 years to save for a compliant drone. Otherwise they can still fly under the new regulations.

Moaning about is not going to change anything.

Better to just enjoy what we have rather than end up being bitter about the full situation.

So the person reporting a drone flight that is perfectly legal and above board or confronts a drone pilot going about his lawful business could be prosecuted for harassment,

My experience is that when people see why a Law has to be in place and how it can benefit all then it’s easier to swollen the resulting restrictions

You’ve made that look like a quote from me, but it’s a quote from the ICO. And what they said and what you said are totally different things.

I’m ok then 'coz mines orange.:rofl::rofl:

I wasn’t trying to make it look like anything. I was just interpreting a possible outcome of the use of the drone tracking app as stated by what the ICO said in their reply to you.
