Hello i have just received my DJI mini 3 with the DJI RC controller and was wondering if there was a way i could use Maven app with my setup if not is there a way i could even if it means buying a new controller any advise would be much appreciated
kevin
Looking at there website it seems this app is like Lichi and it will only support the Mini 3 on an Android device — https://www.mavenpilot.com/
If your using your phone connected to the controller as a screen then you just need to install the app on your phone and you use it instead of the DJI Fly app
Be sure to download the correct version of the app - that site has all the info you need.
That was sadly a decision made by DJI ![]()
Never really understood why DJI did this as at one point you could buy DJI drones and other products via the Apple website and store and the partnership between creators and Apple is mega strong, as strong as the partnership between these same creators and DJI - very odd
Without wishing to go off topic as this is covered in detail in other threads, but it was probably for the same reason you won’t find any DJI apps on the Google Play Store – too much scrutiny as the apps go through the various App Store code-review processes. Anyone would think they had something to hide in their code ![]()
Thanks very much for all your help i shall go and now buy an android device so i can use maven
Hello all just one more quick question please the controller that came with my mini 3 was the DJI RC with screen but i cant use the Maven app so i was told to use an android device so i bought a dji RC N1 remote so i can plug an android screen so by doing this can i just bind the new RC N1 controller to my mini 3 and use maven. Is this the wrong way to do it and if so is there another way of reaching the goal
many thanks in advance
kevin
Moved your new post here since it’s really after more info on the same question.
What functionality in the Maven do you want to use?
is it for a waypoint route?
hi yes it is for waypoints
Hello yes i want to use waypoints do you use this app ?
I am new to the drone world and plan to use Maven Route for Waypoints and Photogrammetry as part of my Pro Photog life. I am an apple user so no SDK. The other thing I do besides Photography is I am also an IT Consultant/Sales guy.
At first I thought it was a negative about not having a native app (ipad being my preference) but having then looked at Maven/Litchi/WatpointMap I think they offer a better workflow.
Crate the route and export as a KMZ, load onto the Dfi device and run it from there. Thinking about it using the OEM app is typically always more robust as a 3rd party on top of an SDK has levels of development that stand a greater chance to introduce errors. Its a more complex stack.
Using the web app on my iPad saved as an app I get the same functionality and run the waypoints through Google Earth for example if I want to test before using in flight.
Would love to hear views on my logic but in my case i figured i don’t have much choice as well.
Not when the OEM is DJI built
Before they dropped iOS SDK Litchi was my goto for everything (and still is when I get out with the original MP or Mini 2)
Are you saying you don’t find DJI fly robust?
Oh it works ok, but they have histroy of data mining and bodged updates.
iOS version is at least ‘policed’ by Apple in the App Store, as for the Android version that even Google wont touch has got to make you query it
Hello and many thanks for your reply and advice ,i have just made a test flight in MavenRoute to export as a KMZ like you suggest but when i try to export the file it tells me that this option is not yet available and advice would be very appreciative many thanks
hhmm, there is also Litchi Hub and WaypointMap to follow the same process
it feels like these apps are only just providing this functionality due to lack of SDK’s from Dji. I believe WaypointMap does allow KMZ export today as somebody i know uses it. When you use WaypointMap the default app also prompts to use advanced version which looks new i would check it works in both
Just tried Litchi Hub and the KMZ export worked
many thanks for your time i shall give it another wirl
I checked on Waypointmap as well, the option is there and when i tried it suggested the subscription was needed to export
