A question for those of you who have the Mini 3 Pro …
All the images I’ve seen seem to show the camera assembly as protruding somewhat at the front - is it as unprotected as it looks? Not having seen one in the flesh (plastic?) I’m wondering how easily the lens will become scratched?

This was something @ianinlondon explained in one of his videos. If you crash that head on then the camera and gimble are donald ducked.

Protrudes about 10-12 mm from the front most part of the body.
Won’t get scratched in transport with the cover on anyway, and when it’s unfolded anything is going to hit the props & arms long before the camera, unless you are landing on cacti then I don’t see anything on the ground scratching it up too badly either.

But man alive, that cover is a faff to put on. Think I’m more likely to snap the gimble off putting the cover on than I am flying it into a wall.

To be fair I’ve three DJI drones and every gimbal cover is a faff to put on with my old fingers

Are you using the piece of foam that came with the gimbal cover. The bit that was wedged in the back of the gimbal when you first opened it up?
I am and I don’t have a problem putting the cover on at all. I think it is the best designed gimbal cover they have ever made. (As long as you use the foam insert or as you say it’s a right faff to get the cover back in)

The gimble cover is a ball ache, the approach I’ve taken is, instead of bringing the cover straight on at the drone while the gimble is looking forward, tilt the gimble back 45’, bring the cover down at 45’ and kind of ‘scoop’ it into place, and the rear location pins will find their holes. That’s my plan of attack, and it’s stopped me mauling the gimble every time I pack up👍

Put the foam back in behind the gimbal and the gimbal cover goes straight on. I have never had a problem at all.

Someone I know has received DJI order of drone with fly more 14 days earlier than expected. So seems to be some traction on the DJI side of things at least.
I got mine ages ago.
Mini 3 = day after release.
Fly more kit = last Monday.
What’s all the fuss about?
Is it out of stock or on back order?

Having used the mini 3 for a couple of weeks, no joking i can’t wait for the 4 (probably the 5 by the time funds allow) flight characteristics are brilliant. Idon’t use the obstacle avoidance but i tested it and it works, camera for such a small size is very effective, but if they can improve on that happy days
