DJI Mini 3 Pro - Rumours, leaks, gossip and general discussion, reviews

They all do that. Like suppliers they don’t hold stock. The company I used to work for. We got a product from Bostic, we could order 2 pallets of the stuff. More then likely get it next day. 2 years ago place the same order it is now a made to order product even the manufacture don’t hold stock.

So proper maiden flight in the wild done today. Well Birmingham City Centre to be exact. You know put that obstacle avoidance to the test. (Not really. Quite confident with my skills I can manage to not hit buildings)

Initial bullet point thoughts.

  • It’s a pleasure to fly, it really is.

  • It’s really quiet. when I took photos of the library I was sat in a relatively quiet spot not too far from the front of the building, but enough out of the way. People were walking around, not a single person noticed it.

  • The RC is superb, it’s really light to hold, it’s mega bright out there today and not once did I need to find shade or try to shadow the screen. My iPhone would have dimmed within seconds.

  • Being able to take vertical photos is great.

  • Recommend using one of the custom buttons on the back to switch between landscape/portrait. (C2 already is out the box) pressing the screen to do I hadn’t noticed at sone point I’d put it in 2x zoom and took me practically a whole location to realise. :man_facepalming:

  • On your first flight, remember to put an SD card in it. :man_facepalming: Again my first couple of flights were done just saving to the drones internal storage as a result. It’s great having internal storage, but it doesn’t shout at you that you don’t have an SD card in, which is kinda annoying, meaning a few of the locations I took I just have Jpgs. But at least it still did the 5 AEBs.

  • @speatuk comment above about keeping the bit of foam to stick between the gimbal before putting back on the gimbal cover, this makes it tons easier to put the cover back on. Legend.

  • Just enjoying taking photos I didn’t even play with video or any of the automated shots and tracking stuff, will save that for another day.

  • Signal was hit and miss in a urban city centre, which Is to be expected, in some of the locations I have fly before and I definitely flew further with the Mini 2 before I got signal issues, but then in other areas it seemed the Mini 3 went further than the 2. So who knows, I can’t really feedback of signal issues right now. I’ll probably get the FCC hack done before returning to any of these locations and see if it improves, but the issues did not stop me really from doing what I wanted to do.

It really does feel like a huge step up from the Mini 2. So it should for the price. It earns it’s ‘Pro’ name but perhaps feels like it’s another class up from the Mini range. People will buy this perhaps not needing it when the Mini 2 will suffice. I suspect the Mini 2 will stay on sale for a good while yet as he budget drone, if you call it that, but the Mini 3 is anything but budget and is packed with new features.

I was wondering if I went for the flymore kit can I fit an iPad mini in the bag?

The bag imo is practically useless. You can barely fit the battery pack, drone and RC in. I doubt you’ll get an iPad in there as well.

Until I can get hold of a hard case I like the look of, I’ll keep the drone in the fly more bag and batteries, but keep the controller with the sticks on (as bound to end up dropping one of those sticks and losing it) in a different compartment in my bigger bag that also houses some other bits and bobs I usually take out with me.

no it will fit in but you can’t close the lid

What about if I took the charging hub out?

no if it was empty you would have to take the dividers out and it would be a really tight squeeze just tried

Is there any front pouch or anything like that?

there is a pouch but you be pushed to get a iPhone max in it

Really wow, I am surprised

Ended up getting hold of a fly more kit a few days ago. The bag is bollards. Me missus would have a hard time fitting her lippy and slap in it, and she doesn’t really use it that often😂. It’s ok if your going out for a quick shoot and fly about with little kit, the main thing was getting the extra batteries. Now, where to get hold of some filters…

Flew out in more rural location this evening, got it out to about 1000m (3280ft, 0.62miles) :upside_down_face: before it went down to 2 bars. Didn’t fancy going for the full disconnection test even though I have full faith in it but you know, day 2 of actually flying it! I imagine 100 meters more max before total disconnection!

Make of that what you will. Could do better imo.

Rubbish
If you pack it correctly everything fits in.

With room for a pack of smokes and a lighter too ;o)

yeh it is rubbish

Fly more kits in at argos but you may have to wait a few days to collect…

Got mine from amazon, but no luck with mini 3 RC…

Just ordered today with delivery 31st of July

Just picked mine up. Ordered yesterday for delivery in the store tomorrow but got the email to say it was there a few hours ago 40mile round trip to get it. Batteries now on charge but I wish DJI would stop doing these consecutive chargers. Got a charger for the MIni 2 that will do four batteries plus controller at the same time so looking for leads that will fit the Mini 3.

So the software was updated earlier, not sure whether or not I have lost the FCC hack? I am pretty sure before the 1 and 4 were offset from the lines but I’m no expert as this was the first time I’d had it done.
