Dji Mini 4 Pro - jerky flying forward

Over the last month, I have noticed the Mini 4 Pro is flying jerky going forwards, even in normal mode, and seems to bob up and down, anyone have any ideas?

Any video or Airdata to share ?

I’d tell the missus I need a new one it’s a perfect excuse.
Have you tried the compass re collaborate outside with a good GPS lock?

Check your props for damage. Even a slight nick in one of them can affect flight

Mine did the same last week for about 5 seconds. Props all good and I did look at the Airdata log but nothing showed.

As Chris has already said - Airdata may help. What about wind level and what altitude you were flying at ??

Mine has been doing the same. I suspect its the obstacle avoidance detecting things that are not there, then realising it’s not there, then seeing it again … and so on.
As it happens so intermittently, its hard to prove, but I have tried multiple runs back and forth, and it never happens when OA is turned off, but does (occasionally) happen when OA is turned on.
I have looked at AirData and there is nothing showing there.
I discussed this previously … Has anyone else experienced a strange ā€˜bucking bronco’ behaviour of the Mini 4 Pro?

I’ve read that they can be ā€œdazzledā€ by a low sun, and even come to a halt because of it.

Yes Dave @OzoneVibe , I suspect its something like that … as the drone pitches to stop, it’s no longer dazzled, and so take the brakes off, gets dazzled again and on it goes.

Never had the problem on my MP … usually have all sensors off, so that I am in control, not some software engineer in China.

Newly acquired s/h Mini2 doesn’t allow turning off the sensors … as far as I can see. :frowning:

Its doesn’t have the all around OA that the Mini 4 does, so shouldn’t have the same issue … I never had the problem with my Mini 2 in over 2-years - at the same place that I do now have this issue with the mini 4

Not flown it enough to have any issues as yet … but I do recall this issue being mentioned way back on the original Mini with the forward facing OA in low sun conditions.

I must make a note to test flying toward a low sun. :smiling_imp:

It is now fixed, downloaded updates, then re calibrated it, now it works fine, thank you all for contributing…happy flying…:+1:

I have done the update, but I didn’t recalibrate anything, and when I tried it, the problem persisted.
Based on my testing, I’m confident it’s the OA that’s causing the jerky behaviour.
I tried bypass, nifty and braking, and they all had the jerkyness.
As soon as I turn off the OA, the problem disappeared.

I’ll do a recalibrate and see what happens

Seems like your not the only one with this problem just stumbled upon this video on a DJI forum ( whilst looking for something else )
Worth a quick read etc, maybe ignore the second video in the link as that’s referring to matey has only noticed since changing his props,
I did find quite another lengthy thread where some say maybe to much software crammed in a small drone or to that affect but sounds like to many cook’s in the kitchen squabbling in that post.

Oh look - low sun! #WhodAThunk

That’s exactly the problem I am having. I got it the other day with the drone at about 10m, and it was misty (no low sun) … but wonder if the lack of contrast confused the OA?

There’s quite a few topics on DJI forums about this some call it waving rather than oscillating
Also there seems to be many saying OA bypass can cause it & a list of many other things so it’s as good as anyone’s guess, drone / drones have been returned to DJI for replacement & apparently still the issue persists with that replacement I read.

Some in this DJI thread also mentions it but there is also a fair bit of stuff which has nothing to do with the problem but maybe worth a scroll.
