DJI Neo attracts birds

There was nearly a bird strike on my DJI NEO today and although this is probably the best beginner drone from DJI the noise it makes attracts birds but the drone is still tickety-boo anyone else had this happen ? Also it has a weird mode called ATTITUDE mode where it just decides to go off on its own!

All DJI drone have it

Attitude mode turns off the GPS position hold, so it’ll drift with the wind. Useful to get smooth shots without auto breaking juddering.

Hey Sparky really I have owned DJI Drones for almost 10 years now and never seen or heard it - so it will also be on my Mini 4 Pro, Mavic 3 Pro and Avata 2 ?

Thats makes sense as thats what happened to this tiny thing it actually went towards the sea and had to run after it to grab it before it went in the deep blue sea on Exmouth Beach

When I click your video all I get is a sign into confirm you’re not a bot YouTube notification ???
Edit, found your channel and watched the video. Yep, I don’t think pigeons deliberately go for drones, but have to agree, they do fly bloody close to them :wink:

You should read the manual

So you flew phantoms ? Atti was switchable on the controller

On the recent consumer DJI drones, it will go into Attitude mode if the gps signal dissapears, or other position systems are unavailable.

As Chris said, some models like the older Phantom 4 had a physical atti mode switch. (Their current enterprise range has one too)

I think you can get software to hack atti mode on ones with no physical switch (?)

Being able to fly in Atti mode, and make the drone go where you want it to (or just stay in one place) against the wind is a useful skill to have

That would have helped

LOL I remember those videos

Now you have mentioned it I can remember being told in training ( in the fire brigade) when we got our first phantom that we where not allowed to use Atti. But did not think it was the same as we never used it, this was due to another fire fighter in the USAR team using it when he flew it into a large Hotel that had burnt down in Exeter and it went haywire and crashed. all makes sense now !

Experienced once about a mile out to sea, just kept on moving until I was home.

As a costal flyer it’s not only a Neo that will attract certain species of birds. I was out in the darkness this evening flying out to sea and I could hear the distinctive sound of Oystercatchers nearby getting a little agitated by the noise of my Mini 4 Pro. Not long back somebody nearby was flying an Avata that sent them into overdrive!

Not sure I will have to check it was in October 2016 as we got then got Mavic Pro to replace the Phantoms and then a few years later we got the Mavic 2 Enterprise but never knew about Attitude Mode.
