DJI Rapid battery chargers for MP1 and MP2

Hi,

I think this is the key thing, if you have a 100W charger it’s a big advantage

I don’t think this is a problem, the BMS electronics inside each battery handles the balancing

I can earth it, no problem, been doing this sort of thing for years

Thanks for the video link, first bit very interesting, but he does go on a bit

Cheers

Peter, no, it definitely doesn’t do that. It without doubt charges multiple batteries simultaneously.

What’s it like?

Hi Steve, ordered Sat. pm and it arrived 11.50am today! Looks just like the “normal” hub :grinning: I’m going to try an use my 3 batteries in the next few days. I drained them to about 15% on Sunday and it took the “normal” hub just over 4.5 hours to recharge them all.
According to th’instructions, it should take the “advanced” about 2.5 hours. Watch this space !!!

Peter, just check it actually has a fan in it? (ie. drilled holes on the top, not just a pattern?)

@PingSpike First thing I checked Rich, thanks. I was a bit paranoid about buying it from the seller. Thought it was too cheap to be real so took screenshots of their website, paypal, etc but have to admit, it all seems to be OK’
My only concern (!) is that although I have the Phantom 4 power unit, I only use it to charge my Crystalsky batteries and use the ordinary hub for the Mavic batteries. Just wondering if using it to charge the Mavic batteries and the CS batteries at the same time will increase the charging time.

I used to connect all four MP batteries, and the CS Hub with two batteries in it, and then connect the MP controller to the CS Hub, so everything is “queued”.

The CS Hub will only charge in-turn and I have a feeling that’s at the cost of one MP battery. By which I mean, only two MP batteries will charge concurrently and one CS battery.

But if no CS hub is connected then 3x MP will charge concurrently.

I think… it’s been a while since I used that charging setup.

Thanks Rich, you lost me after “I used to” . . . :grinning: but after sitting down with a cup of tea and a muffin and re-reading it x7, finally got the gist. Where do I stick my RC though !!

The CS Hub has a regular USB port on the front of it, so you just need a regular USB-to-MicroUSB lead and connect to the side of the MP controller :+1:t2:

:scream: :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

Ah, knew I had a better pic, you can just make out the USB cable exiting the front of the CS hub and going in to the side port on the MP controller:

Mine did also,
I parted the case and yes the fan is there, also the part number ends with a P

Interestingly whilst I don’t have the Phantom Charger the instruction say the car charger charges at the same rate,
My DJI car charger is rated at 80W

I’m going to add a XT30 connector as an extra input port so I can use a constant voltage, current limited power supply for maximum charge rate

Big thanks to you @Rafter for finding this supplier :+1::+1:

Thanks Rich for the photos although my remark about “where do I stick the RC” was said with tongue in cheek !
Steve, I take it you got the Advanced hub then, did you send the Smatree one back?

Yep, ordered an advance hub, left it a few hours to make sure you got your order in, also checked they still had stock afterwards so sounds like they have a few of them

Ebay proccessed a return on the Smatree without a problem, had an email from them asking if my test results were from the DJI unit !!!
I replied accordngly :slightly_smiling_face:

Just an update. Ran 3 batteries down to 30% (low battery setting), charged them with the Advanced hub and altogether charged all 3 in 90 mins. I think it charges one to about 75% and then N02 kicks in when that is up to about 50%l, bat no1 is charged. When no2 is about 75%, no3 kicks in. (does that make sense?) So very pleased with it. I think the time might go down, like Rich says, when I try and add the CS batteries but what I might do is charge 2xbatteries and the CS batteries on the Advanced hub and the other battery and rc on the “old” hub.

@Rafter @PingSpike

So I bought the 5in1 from Germany, it arrived yesterday. :ok_hand:
Needs a UK plug fitting though.

Checked the earthing, it did have the wire link to the case, but terminal was on to paint so I re-made the connection better

Then noticed that the Earth connection on the PCB was not connected, traced the copper track which went to a protection component (VDR ?) so added a wire from earth to this pad.

All works good, charges batteries at the same time and two USB’s for RC and tablet.
I think I’m going to be happy with this now :+1:
