At least, on Android, you can extract the APK of the current version you’re using and revert to it if the update doesn’t behave.
True,
Assuming storage clean up apps dont delete it??
Btw. Drone assist installs without a problem and does run but seems to have an issue with its map function so making plans is problematic
Drone scene. Gives ‘browser incompatible’ errors using the native firefox which seem to prevent login thus hobbles most of DS’ functions. It does seems to pull up an accurate location tho.
Edge, does allow login but doesnt seem to allow DS to pick up location data.
Im still fiddling so these arent definites yet.
I’m about to try the beta version of firefox.
EDIT: firefox beta does seem to allow DS logins and location function seems to work.
I read that someone is attempting to port the Google services across, will see if I can find the post on a DJI group, would really help if they manage to do it, it is always about certificates, same as with Kodi on Android devices
Thay could be useful.
Or fiddle with the hardware id’s and install a proper version of android on it. As it should have had in the first place ![]()
But it would still have to be designed by DJI to encompass all the different buttons and dials, unless someone is able to do that too, then yes that would be ideal, but would no doubt need to stop any DJI updates
I’ld hope the buttons and stuff would be picked up by a full android install but your right. It would be on the list of things to figure out. I did have some success pulling chips from one board and getting them running on another back in the day. The hardware seems to be picked up np.
Yes, it would probably cause issues with official updates, kinda like jailbreaking apple stuff back in the day. Plus, as it’s such a niche item there won’t be legions of spods working things out in there bedrooms ![]()
Not fiddled much today except with the hdmi out to an android tablet.
Aside from a minor resolution issue. Works perfectly..
Edit: Android phone too
We now have the DJI RC Pro 2 7-inch high-bright Mini-LED display available and don’t forget Grey Arrows Drone Club Silver and Gold members are eligible for a discount member-discount
Please see the link for the RC Pro 2 which also shows which drones it is compatible with:
More ramblings inspired by fiddlings.
Beta version of firefox is still going strong along with edge.
For all the pano people. It’s possible to upload to kuula and the share on here direct from the controller. I was surprised i didnt have to resize anything, a direct transfer from the drone to controller to kuula.
I’ll try youtube uploads next but given @macspite post about freezing controllers under load ill do that under more controlled conditions first.
Three options are available in Video mode. Normal, Explore and Slow Motion.
What is the Explore setting all about?
I used it accidentally yesterday, and noticed the image quality was brighter than in Normal mode.
The frame rate was 30 fps in Explore and 50 fps in Normal.
The camera choices disappeared when in Explore.
All other settings were on Auto.
I can post the screen recording later this afternoon when i get home from appointments, but thought I had better post this now before I forget.
Edit
I must have been asleep as I never knew about those extra modes, I normally just fly as is, it seems the easiest
Me too. I had used Slow Motion for something and forgot to switch it back to Normal. Accidentally pushed Explore and saw quite a difference on the screen between it and Normal.
It was a good example of the benefit of doing a screen recording.
I have just tested it again and it only uses the 1x camera.
The basic user manual doesn’t mention it, so I will see if I can find a more in-depth guide.
Oh no it doesn’t!
It zooms all the way up to full zoom, switching to the relevant camera as necessary.
So it saves manually switching cameras, and allows for continuous recording when doing so.
I tend to do that a lot, using the cross hair on the screen to identify when to switch to the more powerful cameras. Instead, put it into Explore mode and zoom away.
So it isn’t really an RC Pro 2 thing, more a Mavic 4 Pro thing.
