DJI updates its GEO Zone system and removes Unlock requests and NFZs from its Fly Safe platform

I suspect as @SparkyFPV said it’s probably only loading your local area to prevent lag of needing to load the entire database :+1:t2:

Same on Drone Scene, we load different map layers at different zoom levels, for the same reason Deano mentioned

I think at least for now while this all changing & updating, for me, if drone scene says good to go I will, if it’s not then I won’t :slightly_smiling_face:

Just checked again on all my devices and apps

With my phone, that I don’t use really for flying! Manchester Airport was not showing until I connected the drone and got a good GPS fix then it came back

Wonderful, we have a look for a place to fly and it is ok, after the car journey we arrive and it is restricted.

@pcaouolte I meant the country your drone is in

Ah, my misunderstanding. Sorry. :upside_down_face:

Just updated mine to have a look, not used the drone for a couple of months now.

As far as I can see, most if not all restriction zones are still there, they have just been recategorized as authorisation zones. So you still get a warning that you are in an areas where you may not be allowed to fly and prompted to accept responsibility before you can fly. But you can do all this without needing to download a code or have access to the internet, or remember to unlock in advance at home.

I live within the FRZ of Southend airport and just checked this.

Seems like a good move to me, for those that follow the rules it makes life a little easier, and for those that don’t (like my neighbour a few doors down) they will carry on like they always have.

I have done this and did the update, but still shows geo zone and when I go to unlock it geo zone is not there.

What version is it showing

There are no restrictions at Bunton Park

Where can I fly my drone in the UK? - View this shared location on Drone Scene!

But it wouldn’t surprise me if DJI has made a mess of the recent changes, seeing as they have done 3 fly safe database updates in the last 36 hours

When I check on my fly app it shows, but when I go to unlock it, does not show, so drone will not take off. Maybe there will be an update to fix this.

Just seen on Drone SAR for lost dogs

Heads up folks! It seems that DJI have put back their geozones with the latest firmware updates. It also updates the flysafe zones with height restrictions, restricted zones etc - and it is as hopelessly inaccurate as ever!

How accurate that is i don’t know

I’m not seeing anything different on DJI’s own GEO Zone map at the moment

I’d be interested to hear if anyone is seeing something different in the DJI Fly app.
