Does Atti mode work on the latest DJI drones?

Wayne, the DH tool will apply Atti mode to any DJI drone, even an Avata and the FPV.

I’ve done it and it works fine.

I have enabled Atti to my all my DJI drones:

  1. Mavic Air 2
  2. Mini 2 ( x 3 )
  3. Mavic 2 Pro
  4. Avata
  5. FPV
  6. Mini 3 Pro
  7. Air 3

… and most of them aren’t on the list - and yet Atti mode is enabled

The ‘Hack Parameters’ functionality doesn’t even require a DH license. All it does is connecting via ADB, reading and writing the DJI parameters within a very basic UI (Windows Form).

The bottom line is … the DJI Air 3 is the only drone to have this ‘limiter’ - and for it to log incorrect and/or missing sensory data.

All I want to know is … is it just mine … or is it all Air 3 drones?

The point I was trying to make in my original post, but have obviously failed was …

  1. If anyone else is planning applying Atti mode to their Air 3, be warned, and
  2. If anyone who has an Air 3 and is brave (stupid) enough to try it, please let me know the outcome

As for contacting DJI and asking for support, at the end of the day, the worst they can say is ‘no’ … and I am no worse off :man_shrugging:

These are all of the same generation drone-firmware, I can’t help thinking that a software ATTI mod isn’t putting it in “true” ATTI mode like the previous generation of drones were? (ie. drones running under the DJI GO.x app)

Which then kinda dismisses my theory about Fly-app based drones :exploding_head:

No the tool just allows you to modify the firmware parameters

We use to use DJI assistant till DJI blocked it

That list is old hat and I suspect the latest drones have a lot more to them in parameter and software

Only my Mavic 2 Pro used the Go4 app. All others (bar the Avata and FPV) uses the Fly app.

Yes mate, I think you’re right.

The easiest test to see if a drone has Atti mode correctly enabled is to launch on a windy day, take it up 10m, flick to Atti mode (basically Cine mode rebinded) … and watch it drift.

That’s what all my drones do, including the Air 3.

It’s just that when the Air 3 reaches 68 mph … this limiter kicks in. It makes zero sense.

I remember.

Yet the tool still allows you to read all parameters stored onboard.

It’s this, which makes me think the software mods for this generation of drones aren’t putting it in to “true” ATTI mode likes the OG drones where we could roll our own firmware and roll our own apps

Which is my fear :confounded:

I agree there is something else going on

Some fail-safe or something along them lines that is programmed in

Anyways, I’ve truly wrecked this thread by taking it so far off topic.

I better move all this to a new thread me thinks.

Was you not using sincoders hack

For the FCC? No.

From the OG’s

Things to remember about parameter settings. Parameters is how you can turn things on and off, increase settings within a range set by DJI. Because of the way the firmware works, and because way back the OG’s figured out how parameters worked, we could create our own firmware and “owned” the DJI firmware. You could create custom firmware and make your Mavic Pro a mean, fast little drone. Can’t do this anymore…you have to live within the parameters that DJI allows you to change, and even that…they don’t like you changing anything. They (DJI) realized what people were doing and locked down the firmware from most parameter changes, and hid the really good ones like turning off NFZ and altitude enforcement. Sad to say, until the firmware is totally “owned” again and we an roll our own, have to live within the DJI limitations of min/max on what they “allow” you to still change on your drone.

In my experience, the only firmware that I know of is imutable. I.e. the firmware cannot be modified by the user, hence its name “read-only” memory. That said, most firmware will install configuration properties that can be written to, to allow the end user to add their ‘specifics’. It’s the same on servers, PCs, phones and tablets … so can’t see drones being an exception.

And seeing that when I “write” to these properties, reload them … and my changes have been applied - this means these properties are not ‘read only’, so cannot be firmware.

Long story short - I can write to my Air 3. So it’s not that.

Either there is a fault with my drone, or DJI have implemented something to limit the top speed despite genuinely having Atti mode enabled.

All I have to do to enable Atti mode is change this …

fswitch_selection|g_config_control_control_mode[0] = 12

To this …

fswitch_selection|g_config_control_control_mode[0] = 3

And when I do this, my Air 3 will drift very quickly as soon as I switch to Atti mode. Hence, Atti mode is 100% enabled :+1: After all, it cannot drift unless GPS Positioning has been disabled.

I am 99.9% certain it is something else that is causing this ‘limiter’ to kick in at 67-68 mph. As otherwise, why would it fly above the factory 47 mph at all?

Perhaps it’s something to do with the new RC2? I dunno.

Personally, I think my Air 3 is faulty. But I guess I’ll have to wait to hear back from DJI until I know more.

This :point_up_2:

I wish I had an Air 3 to test :scream:

But let’s see what DJI say

They are here so they will know your Atti mode Air 3 in on its way to them

Sincoder emailed me last month reminding me he’s got an FCC hack for the Air 3 now.

@Kirky suggested that maybe the FCC hack also provides a method for enabling Atti mode.

So I messaged Sincoder and just got a reply @ 9.34 am China time confirming it does.

It’s the usual $40 for the hack on the RC2, unlinke the DH hack, which is directly on the drone.

Feature Description

wp filename.kmz load DJI waypoints kmz file from sdcard then execute the mission

@Kirky - nice one pal.

Ok, this is getting more weird, for the wrong reason.

Sincoder has changed his PayPal account.

And now he has a young profile pic of Kim Jong Un, yes … the ‘not nice’ chap from North Korea.

But … keen on having a new Atti mode hack, I continue (plus Kim is a lot fatter now, so surely less dangerous?)

Just paid him/Kim … and received the latest license for the new RC2 - which will hopefully solve my issue, fingers crossed :man_shrugging:  :crossed_fingers:

he may be ex north Korean, hence taking the Mick, as those guys seem to train their hackers rigorously as a state funded hacking operation… you could always ask him the background…:person_shrugging:

How

But that doesn’t make sense :man_shrugging:

@SparkyFPV wayne, when I emphasised that to Chris as above, was solely based on the patch from sin that I have or others where you can turn things on or off Atti etc, you guys no way way more than me, so was a maybe educated guess on the patch I have does exactly that which works for Atti or as I’ve mentioned to Chris before, maybe DJI have done something to stop this happening with the newer drones & or at least newer than mine, just a guess …
